"Education Is the Key to Life" "Timihirsh kulfsh naw." Education is the key. Yasmin Egal, Fatima’s mother, would say sternly. Fatima would wonder why her mother would say something so enigmatic. Yasmin always wanted to attend school but she never had the time, opportunity or the money to go. When Fatima reached age five, Yasmin decided to move to Ethiopia. She moved Ethiopia because the environment and the education were good. She wanted have a healthy family, a good education and good job for their future. She wanted chance for her children to have a better life than the one she had. By the age of six, Fatima had to further her education in the capitol city in Addis Ababa Ethiopia at “Holy Angels” school, far away from Nagle Borna, where her mother moved to. She wasn't be able to see her mother for a long time except summer and she have to live with her aunt and cousins. Addis Ababa was a beautiful site to see, a blends of city and agriculture blended into one beautiful landscape, the school wasn’t as bad as she perceived it. Every summer when she goes to visit her mother we would ask her "mama why did you send me to Addis?" than her mom would reply back " Because education is key and I want you to have it all." she hated every second of it being at Addis but she wonder what she looking back at it as an adult she realized that those thoughts were selfish. On January 26 2005, at 7:30 AM, Fatima's aunt received a call from Nagla Borna, and she was told her sister Yasmin was sick and she was in critical condition and she will be coming to Addis Ababa for medical. Fatima was right beside her when she received that call; she heard the part her mom was in critical condition. Fatima asked her aunt "what wrong with my mother?" she replied back to her “it’s not your mom it's another lady called Yasmin." but Fatima didn't fall for she know she was hiding something
