A formativie assessment is a variety of informal and formal assessments measures that are used by teachers during the learning process in order to adapt teaching and learning activities to improve a child’s attainment in school, it is designed to give pupils feedback in order to improve in their learning and help a pupil understand what is expected of them in relation to their educational success and give ideas as to how to develop their work. In order for formative assessment to be effective, there must be a whole school approach which includes teachers in each year group assessing with subject leaders to ensure consistency within year groups in order to maintain high individual pupil progress. K2. High expectations of pupils are important so they can set themselves targets and achieve their full potential. This is demonstrated through setting the pupils goals within a lesson, providing support when need and through praise and encouragement. K3. It is important to be knowledgeable of the school curriculum and age related expectations of pupils.
Describe what your role, responsibilities and boundaries would be as a teacher in terms of the teaching/training cycle. The teacher’s role, responsibilities and boundaries are permanently changing, evolving and being assessed in order to give the best possible learning experience to all students. Using the teaching/training cycle can benefit your personal development if you refer to and use its principles. The first stage of the cycle is Identify needs, this begins with the initial assessment where we can determine the learners needs and the correct course for them to achieve. We use a quickscan, and VAK test which helps to determine the learner style, (Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic).
The teacher can measure the progress of each pupil by carrying out lessons and setting the children clear objectives. At the start of each lesson so that the children are clear about the objectives the class teacher writes a “WALT” on the board. This stands for WE ARE LEARNING TODAY. My role is to work under the guidance of the class teacher and senior management providing support to teachers and pupils alike. The main aim of this role is to work together to give every pupil the guidance and support they need to reach their full potential and to become more independent learners. The school motto ‘Believe it! Achieve it!’ chosen by pupils and staff sums it all up. Within my role as a Teaching Assistant in the classroom, I support the class teacher by working with the pupils on a 1:1 basis and sometimes within a small group following the school based curriculum, pupil’s targets and Individual Education Plans.

This is the type of assessment used and it allows teachers to adjust targets and objectives to suit the student until they develop skills and become more confident. Formative assessment is usually informal (Formative informal) and can take place at any time during the teaching and learning process. Feedback from formative assessment will be beneficial to both student and teacher as it not only allows the student to recognize their success and look at areas for development but it allows the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching and look to improve on future sessions. Teamwork is the efforts undertaken by each team member for the achievement of the team’s objective, this is known as teamwork, and teamwork is the backbone of any team. Understand the work of the team Teamwork is important in any working environment, especially in schools and job roles that involve working with children and young people. Teamwork is important in any set of people who work together. There are many different roles within the school, but each person has a shared purpose and the common goal of providing the highest level, education, and support to the pupils. In my job role, I work closely with the class teacher and full time teaching assistant.

Determining Effectiveness of Instruction Another critical aspect of monitoring behavior is to assess the effectiveness of the program. Keeping track of the student's behavior helps the teacher make decisions about when instructional changes are needed to help the child make progress on his or her individualized objectives.
