Effective teachers strive to motivate and engage all their students in learning, believing every student is capable of achieving success at school and they do all they can to find ways of making each student successful. They personalize the learning for their students and uses techniques that have each student working on tasks that engage and challenge them to achieve their personal best. Teachers have a repertoire of effective teaching strategies and use them to implement well designed teaching programs and lessons. (AITSL (a), 2012). Planning influences what student will learn, because planning can transform the available time and curriculum materials into activities, assignments and tasks for students so time is the essence of planning.
Secondly, children increase social and cognitive development from positive influences that are communicated by teachers. Emphasis around Vygotsky’s theory will explain the basis of social interaction facilitating learning with the benefit of good communication (Eggen & Kauchak, 2010). Thirdly, teachers must develop high level of written and verbal communication skills. This will develop good relationships between the teacher, student and family leading to proper educational practices that will improve student’s overall outcomes will enhance their literacy skill. Finally, educators with effective communication skills prove an ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of students they are supporting (Kearns, 2012), and with appropriate delivery of good communication, student learning increases.
In order to improve the area and society in which a school is based, is subject knowledge key to improvement of crime, economic welfare and wellbeing or are morels, values and communication skills a necessity. I think they are definitely a necessity and the remaining question is whether it is the role of the local school to teach these morels, values and communication skills or whether it is the role of the family in which an individual is raised in. It can be shown that schools are aware of this role from the following quote taken from (White, 2006) “The English School Curriculum aims to help every young person to live a fulfilling life and to help others to do so. It does this within a framework of democratic citizenship in which each person is equally valued and each person is free to make her or his own decisions about how she or he is to lead her or his life.” The Pastoral System The pastoral system is a curriculum that “combines all aspects of the school life which together contributes to the formation of the whole person” (ASCL, 2007). Before any statutory requirements were put into place, schools already recognised the importance of a citizenship curriculum.
Integrating Instructional Technology Integrating instructional technology into the classroom can enhance student’s education in both learning and communicating. My Comprehensive Classroom Technology Plan will include details on how teachers can use technology as a learning tool. By modeling technology fluency I intend to use technology to widen educational opportunities, apply it to the curriculum and to increase collaboration and cooperation among my students. Integrating technology into the classroom will prepare students for global society and lifelong learning experiences. Expectations will be set when starting the course of this journey.
I have learned first-hand of the effect on people’s achievements and behavior from other’s attitudes and expectations. Developing a cultural content rich and diverse curriculum is key in developing student’s abilities to consider alternate perspectives and ways of thinking. Teachers play an extremely important role in a schools multicultural education. To ensure proper preparation for pre service teachers’ effective pre service multicultural education programs should be adopted. Soliciting parental support and involvement is a great way to encourage school and home communication.
According to Gravell, (2012:18), the main role of the Teacher is to help learners achieve their chosen programme. Gravell went further to explain that this can be achieved by using various teaching and learning methods whilst taking into account learners individual needs. As a Team leader in the Princes Trust I will wear many hats: friend, judge, mentor, different roles for extracurricular duties. When I say mentor it means many things from a role model to coach to confidant, someone I believe who encourages positive behaviour this could be with the use of more responsibilities in the class room. Helping them improve the skills this could be through communication for example being able to understand situations and resolve differences which will build trust.
Stakeholders in Education Introduction There are many stakeholders in education each of whom needs to play his role effectively in order to help all our children learn better and reach their fullest potential. This document spells out the roles of the respective stakeholders in education. The statements which are student-centered, outline the roles and qualities we expect of each stakeholder—the child himself, hisparents and family, his teachers, his Principal, MOE HQ, the Community, Business and Industry, the Alumni Association as well as the School Advisory/Management Committee—in helping the child learn and grow. With these statements there will be a common understanding of the the type of partnerships that can be undertaken and how the respective roles can be fulfilled. At the heart of these statements is the ultimate aim of helping all our children achieve the Desired Outcomes of Education.
It not only provides more opportunities and options but also more academic potential. It also adds value when it comes to securing certain top positions. These values are given to you for working hard and achieving the status of a successful human being. Schools teach you good morals on how to do an effort, how to work hard, how to achieve things, how to become an adult, and how to work with others and get results. “The choices you make now, the people you surround yourself with, they all have the potential to affect your life, even who you are, forever” (Xplore).
Running head: PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS OF TEACHING My role as an educator is to not only teach the children the required subjects, but to guide them as a role model, as well as inspire them to reach their fullest potential. Inspiration is not simply a switch that one flips on at the beginning of the day and flips back off after school is over, it is a constant state of being which makes others want to be a part of something. Whether that something is a lecture, an activity, a discussion, or a project, that student feels the desire to be actively involved, not only because that is what is expected of them, but because they feel welcome and intrigued by the learning process. This will all be accomplished by following the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession. During my field visit to St. Vincent St. Mary High School, I witnessed many of these standards being utilized effectively.
Running Head: DIRECT ASSISTANCE TO TEACHERS Direct Assistance to Teachers Teresa McNair Grand Canyon University: EDA 5551 May 9, 2012 Direct Assistance to Teachers “Direct assistance to teachers is one of the crucial elements of a successful school” (Glickman, Gordon, & Ross-Gordon, 2010, p. 288). Direct assistance provides one on one support which is necessary to promote the attainment of knowledge, interpersonal and technical skills needed by our teachers to be efficient in the classroom instruction and management. Within our educational organizations today, clinical supervision and peer coaching are currently two of the most popular forms of direct assistance used. Within today’s educational organizations, many changes are taking place which now puts majority of the responsibility on administrators. With this amount of accountability, administrators must ensure the academic success of their students through the effective use of supervisory practices.
