EDP 310: Emotional Intelligence Sections 82993/76162 Instructor: Classroom: Email: Laura Petrolle Clemons ONLINE laurapetrolle@gmail.com COURSE INFORMATION This course is designed to provide an introduction to the concept of emotional intelligence. As such, this course offers an overview of many of the prevailing theories, models, and measures associated with the construct of emotional intelligence. Additionally, this course provides a review of literature affiliated with these aspects of emotional intelligence as well as some research into the relationships between emotional intelligence and health and emotional intelligence and education. Course Format This class will be conducted as an online learning course including but not limited to online discussions, quizzes/study questions, and written and applied projects. For a 7.5 week session, a student should be prepared to spend approximately a minimum of 6 hours a week on coursework for a 1-credit class. Blackboard: The course will be using the Blackboard system as the online class instruction. The system will be used to post homework assignments and announcements, facilitate group discussions, ask questions, download supplemental course material, and all other course activities. It is the student’s responsibility to be proficient in using Blackboard, its required processes, and Microsoft programs to be successful in an online learning environment. Students need to be proactive in ensuring they are skilled in Blackboard’s processes in order to complete all assignments on time. Technology excuses for late or incomplete assignments will not be accepted. You will be responsible for checking Blackboard everyday.
