Eddie Kamae As A Leader According to Dwight D. Eisenhower he claimed that “ you do not lead by hitting people over the head that’s assault not leadership. Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it” (McKinney). During the 1959, Eddie Kamae establish and lead the band called The Sons Of Hawaii which marked a beginning to the Hawaiian Cultural Renaissance. He wanted to support and revive the dying Hawaiian music by producing documentary films and songs. In that case, people will able to recognize the importance of the Hawaiian culture. Eddie Kamae took leadership when he committed his time and effort in the process of the revival of the hawaiian culture, leaving the legacy as the beginning of the Hawaiian Culture Renaissance. Eddie took three types of action as a leader. For social, he participated as the founder and the leader of The Sons Of Hawaii, he taught himself on how to play the Ukulele and he was member of the Ukulele Rascals. As for Intellectual, he composed his own songs, taught others by teaching them the hawaiian culture who are willing to learn. Lastly, he took cultural actions which were he participated in launching the Hawaiian Renaissance. Since the overthrow of the monarchy, U.S. annexation of Hawaii and Americans migrating as the citizens of Hawaii. Therefore, the Native Hawaiian saw it had abolish their unique social, political and cultural identity. Although, Eddie Kamae becomes a leader because of a number of reasons. The first cause for the need of leadership include the Hawaiian music becoming ignored and it’s losing its meaning because of modern music that are dominating. Because of this, Eddie Kamae had taught the Ukulele and composed Hawaiian songs in order to revive the Hawaiian culture. According to George S.
