The objective of this week’s assignment is to reflect on the concepts covered in the first week and conceptualize my thoughts and understandings of these concepts. The topics I will address in the consolidation paper are the concepts covered in the first part of the textbook, articles posted in the digital divide documents, and my current thoughts about the online experience. I found many of the topics covered in chapters 1 thru 3 very interesting especially the impact information systems have on our world today. I really hadn’t stopped to think about the significance of information systems until I did the reading and different examples were given that highlighted its importance. After reading chapter 1 I started to pay closer attention to how information systems impact our day to day life.

Each student is required to open, read and research the case study assignment in order to answer the questions. The case study outlines the features of the Dell direct customer business model and examines ways in which Dell is altering its approach to meet the changing needs of its customers.
The challenge is to find one that can most cost-effectively collect and share data from which meaningful information can be extracted to support making good decision. Successful implementation is the central goal of every HRIS project, and it begins with a comprehensive design for the system. As the steps in the system development process are cove red, the foundation knowledge that is critical to the implementation process will be emphasized. Only by understanding the users/customers of the HRIS, the technical possibilities, the software solution parameters, and the systems implementation process can we increase probability that the completed software installation will adequately meet the needs of the HRM function and the organization. (Kavanugh, Thite, Johnson 2012).
The company is growing and requires updated software systems for the company’s material requirements planning (MRP), capacity requirement planning (CRP), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) needs. A member of the management team has been tasked with selecting a software package that will benefit and meet the firm’s business needs. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a computer-based management system for inventory (Benefits of MRP, n.d.). It is designed to help production managers with scheduling and ordering raw materials and parts for production of finished products (Benefits of MRP, n.d.). The MRP system benefits companies by helping production managers maintain adequate inventory levels; keeping costs contained by not carrying too much inventory; and tracking materials (Benefits of MRP, n.d.).
Part C gives my proposed solutions to the problem and how it could have been avoided by following the correct procedure of employing the right person. Part D links some useful information from the Internet relating to this session. Part A. I required assistance in my job in the form of someone to delegate things to as my workload had increased considerably. I highlighted this to my line manager who in turn informed HRM. I also brought it up in the weekly department meeting and it was agreed that an office assistant would be beneficial to everyone.
