Have you ever ordered a big mac and a few French fries at mac donalds? or a chocolate milkshake? you are probably thinking oh,,, its just some food and a drink. nothing much! think again .that meal is worth 2000 calories which is a rough average of what people need to eat in a day.if we eat this meal for twice a week ,we would be as big as an elephant! Is’nt it scary??it is very important to eat healthy. Time and health are two precious assets that we don’t recognize and appreciate until they have been depleted ,,,this was once said by a famous person DENIS WAITLEY. MY NAME IS SHREEYA IYER AND THE TOPICWHICH I HAVE CHOSEN IS Importance of eating healthy food A nutritious, well-balanced diet – along with physical activity – is the foundation of good health. Healthy eating includes consuming high-quality proteins, carbohydrates, heart-healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and water in the foods we take in while minimizing processed foods and saturated fats. Eating in this manner helps us maintain our body’s everyday functions, promotes optimal body weight and can assist in disease prevention. Overall Health The nutrients in the foods we eat support the activities of day-to-day living, protect our cells from environmental damage and repair any cellular damage that might occur. Protein rebuilds injured tissue and promotes a healthy immune system. Both carbohydrates and fats fuel our body, while vitamins and minerals function throughout our body in support of our body’s processes. Vitamins A, C and E, for example, act as antioxidants to protect our cells against toxins, and B vitamins help us to extract energy from the food we eat. Calcium and phosphorus keep our bones strong.
