Eating Healthy Most people who try to put themselves on a diet cannot make it past one week. They make up a simple excuse like it is too hard, or they just can’t do it. I am not going to say it is not hard, but it can also be very easy if you have enough motivation and dedication. I have been on a diet for almost a year now, and it was hard at first, but it gradually gets easier. But my diet does not consist of starving myself from delicious foods, I do it for health reasons, and I surround myself with tasty, nutritious foods. Just like Maya W. Paul, Melinda Smith, M.A. and Jeanne Segal would say in their article on helpguide.org, “Healthy eating is not about strict nutrition philosophies, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, stabilizing your mood, and keeping yourself as healthy as possible.” This statement is very true. Since my diet I have lost little to no pounds only because of regeneration of muscle, but I am noticeably thinner. I am more active, and I feel healthier. Being healthier is an amazing feeling. After about a week of eating healthy and nutritious foods I felt as if I could breathe easier, I could sleep longer, and I don’t feel like a “blob” anymore. Blob is a word I use to describe how I feel when I eat unhealthily. I feel lazy, oily skinned, and awkwardly large. When I eat healthier I also take care of myself better. I dress cuter, I do my hair, I give myself manicures and pedicures and sometimes I even give myself a facial. Eating healthy makes me feel so good, that it motivates me to do more for myself, I even like doing my homework. I would say that eating healthy gives me more energy and that’s why I do more activities that I normally would not want to do.
