“Don’t go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path…and leave a trail” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Excerpt: This is similar to Robert Frost’s poem, “The Road Not Taken”, where the traveler takes the road less traveled after arriving at a fork in the road. We will all face times where we have to make a choice of one or the other and be content with the decided direction. By taking the road less traveled, you’re straying from the normal, you’re not going the same, average way that everyone else goes.

actually had not come across this until last year. At the Patriots Hall of Fame, they play a 15 minute video that gives a little history about the Patriots and how they have come to be what they are now. Throughout the video, the narrator voices different quotes, and applies them to the story of the Patriots; this was one of them.
As soon as I heard it, I loved it, and that was partially due to the fact that it sounded really cool coming from the typical, deep, Godlike voice that goes with narration.

Emerson’s quote however, takes this idea to a whole new level. Emerson says forget any path you see, make your own path! In essence, this aligns well with “be a leader, not a follower”. By pushing through and making your own path, you are being a leader, you are the first. Once you have made your path, you leave a trail where others desire to follow you.
