Reflective Essay When I started at Philadelphia University, in the Accelerated Degree Program, I knew that the process ahead would be difficult yet I was full of optimism and hope at the future that a bachelor degree would afford me the chance to have a better life. Though I was optimistic, the thought of having to complete all of the required courses instilled some fear into me. I felt like I lacked the confidence and skill to perform at a satisfactory level. Theodore Roosevelt once stated “It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed” (Roosevelt, 2012), remembering this, I knew that I had to place my fear aside and try my hardest to accomplish my goals in order to get where I wanted to be in life. Initially, my reasons for going back to school was to set an example to my younger siblings that education is a lifelong process and it’s never too late to pursue your dreams of wanting more out of life.
I am determined to work hard and graduate maybe even with honors that I can sure that I am making a better life for myself as well as for my family. High school is here to help us set our GPA so that we can apply to a great college. When I entered ninth grade, I thought I knew what I was capable of, but I was wrong. As time went on I realized that I needed so much more.
While I do look to depend on my daughters father for time to be able to get things done. Essentially it is all up to me I need to be willing to get up to get to class as well as willing to do whatever is necessary to pass and not with just a passing grade but a grade I can be proud of.
Without the goal of going to college I would not be here today. Also, I would not be teaching my children not to give up on their dreams. By believing that the long-term results and the value of completing my degree in higher education to be that if it is a dream or a goal of yours that you are never too old to achieve them. Also, if you are returning to school later in life you are setting an example for your children so they can see that you never give up on your goals and dreams. My personal plan for my academic future is to push myself to do better in school and achieve the goal that I set for myself of a 4.0 GPA.
These schools are both good academic schools and they are known throughout the country. I will focus on my studies more than anything with just one goal in my mind. The main goal will be graduation. We are human and I know there will be many obstacles and there will be times where I may want to give up. But you have to be mentally strong to achieve your goals in this life.
