Early Church There are a few aspects of the Early Church’s situation in Rome that parallel that of the American Church. America seems to be slightly Roman in their approach to religion and philosophy; in fact, this seems to be no coincidence. America has adopted their architecture, philosophies, and some of their government structure. That being said, the tolerance of all religions stands out as a similarity as well. Rome, as Dr. Babcock said, tolerated religions “as long as they also worshipped Caesar on the side” (123). What Rome actually seemed to offer was tolerance with a hint of their personal agenda.
