John “Jack” Kennedy was born the second of nine children on May 29th, 1917. At the time, the Kennedys lived on 83rd Beaks Street of Brookline Massachusetts. But the Kennedys would move several times before buying the house in Cape Cod Massachusetts that they would call home. As a boy, Jack was often sick, he was nearly killed by Scarlett Fever at the age of 4. Growing up in his older brother’s shadow, Jack would compete with his brother in sports, but not so much in education.
This fulfilled his life and gave him great satisfaction. Peyton Rous was born on October 5, 1879 in Baltimore, MD to Charles Rous, a grain exporter, and Frances Wood, the daughter of a Texas judge. According to The Journal of Experimental Medicine, “His mother’s ancestors were Huguenots who settled in Virginia after the Edict of Nantes. Just before the Civil War in the 1860’s her father, foreseeing disaster, bought land in Texas, moving his big family there after it ended. There he became a judge «riding three counties» and the family throve” (page 1).
The thirty-fourth President of the United States of America, Dwight David Eisenhower, served from 1953-1961. Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas on October 14, 1890. Despite this, he was brought up in Abilene, Kansas. He had six other siblings, him being the third of the seven. He was great at sports and joined the army.
He did not then enter college as his mother felt he was too young and went instead, in September, 1920, to Clarksville High School, Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, graduating after the full school year. In the spring of 1921 he suffered an injury to his left eye from a rock throwing incident perpetrated by his younger brother. The injury eventually led to removal of the eye. He had many friends and enjoyed playing football, basketball, tennis and golf.
My mother and father after being married for 25 grumpy years, decided to divorce three years ago. I also have two amazing and sweet older brothers, who both still reside in Louisiana. My oldest brother, Allen, has been married for 15 years and has one tough girl and two rowdy boys. Todd, my second brother, on the other hand joined the army when is was 30 and has been deployed four different times to the middle east. He is out of the army now and has a peaceful life living in Baton Rouge with his new wife and two teenage stepdaughters.

This might be a story in itself or me just going on; use anything you like Brad For those who have not heard, avid bowler Ron Flynn who bowled mainly at USA bowl passed away on Saturday January 14 after a long battle with lung and brain cancer. Since his passing, I have heard nothing but enjoyable stories and memories about Ron from his family and friends. I first met Ron Flynn at Don Carter’s – West on the old Tuesday Men’s commercial league. I had just come out of the junior leagues and only knew a few people on the league. My former coach Cherry Ayers and friend Bob Brooks introduced me to Ron as one of my new teammates.
I borrowed a set from a friend, went out, and even though the course wouldn't let me play because of a tournament, I was hooked. My first shot ever, hit with a friend's driver, I shanked 30 yards off right. The beauty of golf, however, meant that I decided to go out again a day or two later A year and a couple months later, I am completely addicted to golf. Herbert Hoover was born on August 10, 1874, in West Branch, Iowa, and was the first president born west of the Mississippi River. When Hoover was six years old, his father died. Three years later his mother also died, and Hoover was then raised in Oregon by his aunt and uncle. Hoover lived the next 18 months with his uncle Allen Hoover in West Branch. In November 1885 he went to Newberg, Oregon, to live with his uncle Dr. John Minthorn, a physician and businessman whose own son had died the year before.
