Andreas Eisenmann Linking College and Drugs Essay 2/24/12 Don’t do the Crime if you can’t do the Time In the U.S. the usages of drugs has become a very large topic. Some of these examples of drugs are Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Heroine, Marijuana, and MDMA. Over the years the number of seizures has been growing exponentially. The number of kilograms in cocaine in the US in 2010 reached a number of 44,063 kilograms seized. The total number of kilograms seizure for methamphetamine reached 8,699 kilograms. The total number of kilograms seized in heroine reached 2,562 kilograms. They seized 1,809,496 kilograms of marijuana and 2,124 kilograms of MDMA. If they are seizing these great amounts of drugs there must me a lot of users out there. Here is some information of the percentage of drug users in the year 2009. All of these percentages are based on individuals from the ages of 12 and older. Cocaine users make up 1.9 percent of the US population. Crack users make up 0.4 percent of the US population. Heroin users make up 0.2 percent of the US population. Marijuana users make up 11.3 percent. Methamphetamine users make up 0.5 percent. Prescription Narcotics make up 4.9 of the US population. LSD users make up 0.3 of the population. MDMA consists of 1.1 percent and PC users only make up 0.1 percent. Below are some charts to show the percentage of drug availability according to religion.
