There you have it, my honest opinion. Drug Test for welfare benefits. I don’t want to support anyone else’s habit when I am having a hard time making ends meet.” Drug testing will require recipients to stay free of drug use, making them employable. As author Heather Ben states, “The government’s latest welfare reforms all beneficiaries will be required to take pre-employment tests when requested by a prospective employer, Those who refuse or repeatedly fail, will have their benefits cut or suspended.” Passing the bill could minimize the purchase of illegal drugs, making our children and society a safer place. This also includes prescription drugs as well.
If an employee takes a drug test in the workplace and fails it then the employer will have to take disciplinary action against them which is to fire them. But thanks to the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 they had certain
Employer Right to Know Many employers argue that in order to fill positions with employees or promote and maintain employees, that drug testing is necessary in order to protect the employer from liabilities such as negligent hiring and costly accidents and health expenses incurred by intoxicated or under the influence employees. This interest in protecting the
It is then left up to the patient to find a medical marijuana clinic and obtain a legal medical marijuana card. Marijuana has a plethora of benefits not only to our society but more for medical purposes. In an article written by John Burnett, he discusses possible outcomes if marijuana was legalized. He states that legalizing marijuana would drop crime and addiction rates. People who are addicted to narcotics due to chronic pain, would more than likely stop using if they could legally obtain marijuana.
As many have heard discussed on the news, there is much debate about the new law to require welfare recipients to under go drug testing. While there are many states to follow this law, there is still much deliberation on whether this law is ethical or unjust. A recent Rasmussen poll showed that 53 percent of American’s believed that recipients should be tested before receiving benefits, 13 percent supported random testing, and 29 percent thought testing should be used only if there was a reasonable suspicion of illegal drug use. The aspect on discipline resulted in 70 percent believing recipients who are found using illegal drugs should have their benefits cut off and 58 percent believe the rule should be one strike and you’re cut off. Florida, being the first state to pass the law, decided that applicants who test positive for controlled substances will either have to complete a substance-abuse program or be banned from receiving benefits for a year.
Medequip, Inc. INTEROFFICE COMMUNICATION To: Ms. Anita Prufrock From: Bill Smith, Line Supervisor B.S. Subject: Recommendation on Random Drug Testing of Employees Date: September 23, 2012 The reason for this memo is to provide my recommendation regarding the institution of a random drug testing policy of Medequip, Inc. employees. Summary Based upon my research regarding the implementation and effectiveness of random drug testing policies in the workplace, I strongly feel that instituting random drug testing of employees would not only bring a negative impact to the financial and legal well-being of the company, but would also hinder the promotion of the culture of community and trust which we have cultivated over the past 5 years. After speaking with the shift supervisor, there have been no occurrences which suggest a drug abuse problem within the organization, and creating a policy such as this not only will affect the company greatly financially, but could also promote a breakdown of trust between management and employees. Discussion According to Marcus Roberts (2004), with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, there are four fundamental reasons for drug testing in the workplace.
The drug given is called soma. Soma blocks and numbs reality and replaces it with happy hallucinations. It also blocks people’s ability to see the life they actually live, which is a form of manipulation because citizens are manipulated to take soma, which helps them live a happy and perfect lifestyle. The government also influences/encourages the citizens to take soma tablets but the amount is regulated. Since soma is taken every day the amount given is regulated so there is no such thing as overdose.
The inability for employers to have a drug free workplace, since they will no longer be able to give the employees drug test for marijuana. It would send a permissive message to young adults that drug use is acceptable. This creates to the public perception that marijuana is not a serious or harmful drug, when in fact, it lead to numerous mental and physical harm. Loss of control over medical marijuana by physician. In consistency with other laws for example, if a state legalizes marijuana, this conflicts with federal laws, and this leads to confusion in the public and among law
This would not be the case if doctors and patients treat medical marijuana like any other prescription drug. If it is handled like any other prescription drug in the sense that a patient has to have a written prescription for it and it is disbursed through a pharmacy. If patients have a written prescription for it then that will also help federal agents to identify people that might be using it recreationally too. For a doctor to be able to write prescriptions for medical marijuana they should be trained on what illnesses they are allowed to write the prescription for, have testing for those illnesses to prove that those patients have an illness that is in need of a medical marijuana prescription, and have a rule stating that they are only allowed to give a prescription for medical marijuana if all other prescription options have been exhausted. If people try to make fake prescriptions for drug trafficking or their own recreational use then federal agents will be able to know what prescriptions are fake and then also who they are able to prosecute.
The temperature of the urine will determine if it was recently a sample, just to make sure you’re not trying to pull a fast one. These then are sent to an independent laboratory to where then they are tested. The usually test them for amphetamines, cocaine, and marijuana. The laboratory can also detect if you have been taking other drugs such as, LSD, at the request of the district. The laboratory test has 99.94 percent accuracy.
