Jail Time Reduced Crack dealers who were arrested back in the 1980’s should be able to get out of jail sooner. Americans would benefit because they would save money if prisoners were released, prisons wouldn’t be as crowded, and the government would realize that our system is too hard. Americans are working too hard in this economy to be wasting their money on overly aggressive government power. It is cases like these that the government slowly realizes that they have such great power over the country. If Americans don’t start sticking up for what’s right then the government will continue to have full control over the country, whether the United States likes it or not.
The drugs would also be more potent and less contaminated. “Wherever an operation is shut down, a new one is opened up.” He concludes that if efforts could succeed in significantly reducing either the supply of drugs or the demand for them, we would not need to seek change in policy (Is curbing a rising population of users not a success??). He says that due to our repeated failures, there is need for some a change. It seems that based on Nadelman’s perspective, he would argue for the legalization of cognitive enhancing drugs as well as illicit drugs. William Bennett has other
Dealing with Americans and drugs is one of the many harsh problems we face in society. As a result many countries planned policies and act organizations to try to control drug policy. For example, the United States of America has prepared the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). According to the ONDCP, “The Administration’s National Drug Control Strategy promotes public safety y strengthening coordination among law enforcement professionals and supporting initiatives that work to break the cycle of drug use, crime, incarceration, and re-arrest… drug trafficking organizations and associated criminal groups pose a persistent and dangerous threat to the communities across the United State…” Why is the United States so harsh on drug use? Drugs will always be used and I believe there is absolutely no way to control it.
LEAP envisions a world in which drug policies work for the benefit of society, keeping our communities safer. To achieve this the organization thinks that legalization and regulation would end violence, reduce crime, disease, protect human rights and lessen the incidence of death. These are people that are either still fighting the war on drugs or at some point were in a position to do so. It actually amazes me that the people that make up the organization of LEAP have been on the front lines of this war and from firsthand experience realize it is not working. They believe by continuing to fight the so called “war on drugs”, the U.S. government has worsened these problems of society instead of alleviating them.
Federal regulation would lead to an even bigger divide being driven in between the lower and upper classes of society. If recipients can afford to buy illegal drugs then they can afford to buy their own groceries. The testing is a necessary mechanism because it ensures tax payers that they are not supporting a drug addiction, while still allowing those in need to receive their proper benefits. Resistance may be met at first, with addicts fighting to get the drugs they need, but it is important to save their lives and better the lives of their children. Strategy Ten: Mediate and Design Systems for Prevention “It takes us a minuscule amount of time to resolve disputes, compared with the amount of time it takes to not resolve them” (Cloke, 2011). Taking the time to create strict laws will save lives over the long run. Furthermore, taking the time to start readily available programs for children of addicts, or children whose parents have overdosed, could also save Kentucky from a vicious cycle of addiction and death by
Legalization of marijuana might be a good solution to solve some problems. Legalization would help cripple the cartel in the billion dollar business. It would also allow the State to collect tax on all cannabis items. There would still be attempts to smuggle the narcotic across the border, but would not be as valuable as it is in today’s market. Legalization would also allow officials to concentrate on more allusive drugs such as cocaine, and
Why is there countless evidence that the reason there are drugs such as cocaine, LSD, heroin, and speed? "Take a holiday from reality whenever you like, and come back without so much as a headache or a mythology. "(Huxley 54)This quote made me feel that our government puts there drugs here to “condition” us in a way. These aspects of life seem to me like a way for the government to do things like population control and to get rid of lower class, by having drugs readily available for us the consumers. If the government were to advertise drugs I think it would go something similar to "A gramme is better than a damn.” (Huxley
B. Legalizing Marijuana here in the United States will make both the US and Mexico a lot safer. It would stop the drug wars between both countries and will even save lives. It will stop the illegal smuggling of Marijuana into the United States. Legalizing Marijuana will also reduce how much money is spent on the borders and finding the drug. (Transition) So today I have talked to you about why Marijuana should be legalized here in the United
A Drug Free Work Week is an effort from the department of U.S. secretary that promotes important information on being drug-free for the sake of keeping of safe workplaces. Today where we stand with this is there’s lots of money wasted when in turn it could be implemented in a drug-free workplace program and could be saving millions in the process. With the implementation of these programs there are lots of claims that have been reported which could have been stopped or not have happened to begin with. There is lots of lost productivity which is costly and wasting efficiency, time, and money to search for new sober employee’s; when the company has implemented a Drug Free Workplace Program that has educational investments for prevention and assistance programs that pays
