Speaking to the human factor, the loss of possibility and potentials to the addict are enormous. Since addicts come from any walk of life; parents, children, sisters, brothers; are all affected by this drug. First, we look at the addict. The losses of ability to function in society, gain educational goals, provide for themselves and others; is a huge cost to society. Medicaid, Social Services, CPS, law enforcement are all affected on a larger scale.
To enforce this law the police have the special powers to stop, detain and search people on 'reasonable suspicion' that they are in possession of a controlled drug. The laws controlling drug use are complicated. The Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) regulates what are termed controlled drugs. It divides drugs into three classes as follows: 1.2 The new ten-year drug strategy (2008-2018) aims to restrict the supply of illegal drugs and reduce the demand for them. It focuses on protecting families and strengthening
Drug trafficking is a serious and frightening business. Drug trafficking has a huge effect on the government the safety of the people. The United States is doing everything it can to stop drug trafficking. Each year the exchange of money and blood are given trade for drugs, we’re left with many unanswered questions. Drug trafficking is an epidemic in the world not just the United States.
The intoxication model suggests that individuals will not use rational thought while intoxicated which leads to the addiction model which states that crimes are committed so the addict can support the habit (WSSAC,2009) The systemic model states that crime occurs when the participant of the drug trade sales the drug. For instance, the use of drugs influences criminal behavior while the distribution of illegal products is a crime. Last is legal model. In this model the individual choices to either abide by the laws that have been enacted to address drug use, possession, and distribution or the person can choice the path that breaks these laws. The war on drugs has become top priority for justice members.
The topics I touched on were just a start of many more topics with problems and solutions. The War on Drugs has turned into transnational Combat because of the variables that go along with Drug trafficking. This is a fight unlike the many wars we have fought in different countries this war is in our own. This war is being fought in our own states, cities, counties, and even our own back yard. This is an indication of the justice system failing they are putting people in prison and then dropping them off in the same spot they started from.
Drugs affect government and allegiances in terrifying ways but what about what happens to the families affected by narcotics? Drug abuse affects all people within the family. The addict is affected through their own self-destructive behavior while the rest of the family suffers through the devastation that it causes; involving them and affecting their lives. Drug abuse can tear families apart. The only way to resolve this ever so rampant issue is to educate the world about the pain accompanied by the high they would
They do things that if they weren’t on the drug they otherwise wouldn’t do. Meth has caused an increase in crime rate, domestic violence, sexual abuse within the home and has devastated a number of families. People become desperate in their addiction and will do anything to get their drug including stealing from family, children and spouses and becoming neglectful parents. The film discussed addicts who put their children in danger in their homes because of their severe addiction to meth. Other addicts would commit crimes such as breaking and entering and theft to feed their
Intimate Partner Violence Darryl Jackson CCJ 5450 Critical Issues in Criminal Justice Dr. Ken Mullen August 3, 2013 Domestic violence is serious problem that our police forces all across the nation are forced to deal with on a daily basis. There is no quick fix or magic answers to solve this problem. I have seen cases of domestic violence that are quite sickening. The police are not quite sure how to handle it because policies and laws in reference to partner violence are ever changing. The police get frustrated with these calls because there are times when they get a call and they see the address and realize that it one that they have to respond to on a weekly basis.
Executive Summary: Methamphetamine is considered by many to be one of the most addicted substances to man. The drug has been responsible for destroying families, devastating communities, causing property crimes to surge, and causing severe neglect to children. Many states want the federal government to take action to fight the methamphetamine epidemic. One solution that is getting a lot of attention is whether or not methamphetamine’s key ingredient, pseudoephedrine, should be prescription-only. While this is one possible solution to battle the methamphetamine epidemic, other options should also be analyzed.
Some long-term effects are: suppression of the immune system, growth disorders, increase of abnormally structured cells in the body, or inability to understand things clearly. The foundation for a drug-free world feels very strongly when it comes to be being against marijuana; rather it’s with their arguments or by their name. It seems like they want to free the world of all drugs, not just marijuana. They talk about the affects of drugs like heroin, crack, cocaine, and even crystal meth. With marijuana they really stress negatives that it can do to your body.
