The settings presented are also dark and eeire, and Dracula himself lives in solitude with no other companion. The film adaptation of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ is just as reliant on the conventions of Gothic fiction (a genre that was extremely popular in the early nineteenth century when the book was written) as the novel, making it not only follow nicely in the novel’s footsteps but also proving to be a chilling delight for the viewing audience. Gothic fiction traditionally includes elements such as wild landscapes, eerie castles, darkness, and decay, isolation, security, the supernatural and innocent maidens threatened by unspeakable evil. Stoker has utilized all of the above and consequently, as does this film adaptation. An example of this would be in the theme of isolation as Dracula’s castle is hidden in the recesses of Transylvania, kept away from civilization of any description.
Feed, a dystopian novel written by M.T. Anderson is based on information technology and data mining in a failing futuristic society. The novel describes Titus and his friends living their lives by suggestions, such as advertisements, from the feed, as well as the knowledge that the feed not only provides them with information instantly, but manipulates their decision making. The dialogue in this novel is distinguished because Anderson has the ability to draw in readers with quick dialogue, unique slang, curse words and grammatically incorrect language. However, this reflects the way the feed has degraded the vocabulary and intelligence of those who have it.
Training Journal I'd like to begin with a journal that's probably the most popular kind kept by a submissive...the training journal. It's one of the most useful tools a dominant AND submissive can have during this time. Every trainer/master/mistress has their own preferences as to what this journal should contain and those preferences should be made clear BEFORE training actually begins. During my training, I was told to record a brief recount of the day's happenings and any new instructions or rules that were added. After this information was recorded I was to give a detailed account of my feelings, reactions, thoughts, fears, desires, questions, etc.
Although texts are often constructed to reflect the values and ideas prevalent in their composer’s society, evolutionary relationships may exist between two texts, presenting similar issues, governed by the same values and perspectives. This is evident in Mary Shelley’s Gothic novel Frankenstein, and Ridley Scott’s film noir Blade Runner, which both present parallel themes of the exploration of humanity, man’s connection to the natural world, and the danger of uninhibited pursuits of knowledge. The epistolary form of Frankenstein, and the metanarratives within Blade Runner, allow audiences to balance perceptions and formulate ideas, ensuring that despite being written in different times, audiences can appreciate contrasting values, while simultaneously

DATE \@ "MMMM d, y" April 20, 2015 Dear Editor, Im writing to express my belief in why the short story “Bloodchild” by Octavia Butler should be published. Butler creates a dystopian society in which humans form together to build a little agency. “Dystopian is the complete opposite of utopian because it describes an imaginary society that is as dehumanizing and unpleasant (vocabulary.com)”. The humans ( who are referred to as Terran) are detached from earth and placed in this far away world that they have to share with Tlic ( referred to as the aliens) . The science fiction elements play a big role throughout the story because the fact that it is located in a far away world it gives this mystery that keeps you on your toes .
Life Sucks Screen play adaptations commonly differ from the book on which they are based. Just like gossip between peers is enhanced for entertainment purposes, films are enhanced for these purposes as well. Between Frankenstein, a novel by Mary Shelley, and the screen play adaptation, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, by Kenneth Branagh, there are numerous differences in detail. Nonetheless, there are similarities in the undertone of both mediums that portray mutual morals. However, it would be a blatant falsehood to say that this film adaptation is free from inaccuracy, somehow above reproach, or indeed perfect.
Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" presents many themes which are universal in today's society. Some of the characters such as Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and the monster, are related by the themes in this book. The themes in which these characters are related are monstrosity, secrecy, and dangerous knowledge. Knowledge is something that can be good, but dangerous. All of these characters have an ambition for intelligence, which they deal with in different ways.
“ Identity depends as much on others as on oneself” Our identity is simply what makes us unique and differentiates us from the rest of our society. We each possess individual qualities that define ourselves from the categories of race, culture, class and religion. Although to conserve these qualities is almost impossible as we are influenced by the people around us, this concept can be highlighted in the texts of Shakespeare's ‘Othello’ , ‘The Tattooist’ by Anne Vick and the movie ‘Stand By Me’ by Rob Reiner. Each of these texts exhibit the same motif of change and confirm that the people around us sway our individual identity. Shakespeare’s Othello is a perfect example of identity development.
We would pool our money together to get as many of the game manuals as possible. Now, with all the negative stigmas that are associated with these games, they do require a lot of creativity, reading and writing. The game master would be somewhat of a screenplay writer; the participants were active protagonists that could make their own decisions, thus influencing changes in the plot. I loved being the game master, I would spend hours thinking of storylines, creating towns and countries, drawing maps, and shaping non player characters. And you would have to think of stories on a whim, if one of the players roles their dice and changes the plot direction, you had to be quick to imagine a new direction for them to go!
