People will like you more if they feel like they are more intelligent. Do things you would never think of doing, say things you would never think of saying, knock down barriers like morals and values that are blocking your way to becoming the perfect woman. Be pushy and arrogant. Make yourself the top priority. People will finally notice you, and that is all that matters.
But the REVLON advertisement clearly conveys why their make- up collection is best. In this ad the diction used appeals to more females. The advertiser used celebrity endorsement to persuade one to purchase their product. Susan Sarandon is a well-known actress. The close up on Susan Sarandon’s face is used to show how beautiful she is because she uses REVLON.
Toddlers and Tiaras is a fascinating reality television show that lets all of us average people in on the world of childhood modeling. Toddlers and Tiaras doesn’t show us just the modeling but also the blood, sweat, and tears that go along with all types of show business. In addition to these things, Toddlers and Tiaras also gives an air of confidence to all of it’s contestants. It teaches them that anyone and everyone can be beautiful, with several pounds of makeup, over-the-top fake tans and about ten thousand dollar dresses, that is. The preparation that is put into these child beauty pageants is vital.
In today’s society women are always worrying about their appearance. Their perspectives on how they should present themselves are imposed by everything around them. Friends, celebrities and the media are the main reasons why women fee the need to live their lifestyle a specific way. Sometimes, celebrities don’t even need to say anything to have an effect on one; women in today’s society are already provoked on changing just by feeling intimidated by them. In Nina Power’s text, ‘One- Dimensional Woman’ the author also argues that you don’t need superficial things to feel good about yourself, or to even look like perfectly thin stick figure to be a feminist.

As the mother of two daughters I always want for my daughters what I feel was lacking in my life. It makes sense to me that Nanny’s idea of success and freedom is being wealthy and idle. That was what was literally beaten into Nanny. I think in real life, as with Nanny, mothers can get so blinded by their own agenda and their attempt to fulfill their own dreams through their daughter that they don’t stop to ask what their child wants. While I understand that this may not be the ideal way to handle a situation, I believe that Nanny did the best she could considering her experiences.
I know how we always want the next new makeup or hair product that’s going to make s look like the model in the commercial. Women can’t just run to the store in sweat pants because they value their appurtenance too much. Women don’t feel as confident when they don’t look nice, but men don’t really care either way. In the reading, “Do thin Models Warp Girls Body Image?” I agree with Nancy when she says thin models on the runway or on TV can cause very young girls to become anorexic or bulimic. Nancy says, “Girls are being bombarded with the message that they need to be super-skinny to be sexy.” (Hellmich 706) I believe that is very true when she says that but what young girls don’t realize is that you could be beautiful and sexy with any body type that you might have.
This “perfect” image that is modeled by Barbie dolls has shaped the way young woman view themselves and others. Most girls, including the female in the poem, believe that Barbie is the standard for acceptance and any exceptions are viewed as ugly or weird. This has shaped our society for the worse in a sense that young girls are being bullied and judged for something out of their hands. Piercy shows this, through the use of irony when she states, “Then in
First thing advertising do is to surround them with the image of ideal female beauty, and women from very young ages strive to achieve this look, and feel ashamed or guilty when they fail. The reason, as Jean explains, why most of the people believe they are not influenced by advertising is because its influence is quick, it is cumulative, and for the most part, it is subconscious. According to Rance Crain, former senior editor of Advertising Age, “only 8% of an ad’s message is received by the conscious mind. The rest is worked and reworked deep within the recesses of the brain.” The most impressive part of the speech to me is when Jean shows a photo retoucher taking different anatomy parts of different women to create a perfect woman, who of course, doesn’t exist; and the most impressive of these “creations” is that these unreal women are covers
