Jesus: The Miracle Hero “He came from heaven to earth to show the way, from the earth to the cross my debt he paid, from the cross to the grave from the grave to the sky lord I lift your name on high” A song by Donnie Mcclurkin sung by Christians today in reference to Jesus Christ. Like a hero Christ went through heroic stages: The call to adventure, The road of trails and The Master of the two Worlds. Joseph Campbell explains that the "first stage of the mythological journey '' is called ''the call to adventure'' (48). Christ passes all the trials with the aid of the word of God, “Jesus answered, 'It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4). In this case Gods word was his supernatural helper. After replying the devil with the word of God the devil then flees from him and he is then taken care of by Angeles. “Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him"(Matthew 4:11). The devil is testing Christ’s strength but he manages to pass the tests from the devil. Even though Christ is the son of God he is living in flesh therefore open to temptations. The Master of Two worlds is the "Freedom to pass back and forth across the world division "(Campbell, 196). This is the stage where the hero has past all the obstacles that was blocking him/her passing from one world to the other. The hero is now comfortable in both worlds and has unlocked the passage way from one to the other, the hero now has an understanding of both worlds, the hero has realized that there is nothing major separating him/her from home to the new
