Domestic Violence is happening all over the world. It is known as domestic abuse, spousal abuse, child abuse, or intimate partner violence. It can be broadly defined as a pattern of abusive behaviors by one or both partners in an intimate relationship such as marriage, dating, family, friends, or cohabitation. Domestic violence has many form including physical aggression (hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining, throwing objects), or threats thereof sexual abuse, emotional abuse, controlling or domineering, intimidation, stalking, passive/covert abuse (neglect), and economic deprivation. Domestic violence may or may not constitute a crime depending on local statues, severity, and duration of specific acts, and other variables. Alcohol consumption and mental illness can be co-morbid with abuse, and present additional challenges when present alongside patterns of abuse. I have had a few experiences with domestic violence. The first time I was dating this guy name Dre, who I thought was so sweet. He would bring me flowers and treat me so nice. So I decided to go to his house alone since my friends were usually with me. All that sweet stuff changed. To make a long story short, he raped me. He was choking me up against the wall with a knife to my throat after he raped me and said if I tell anyone he would kill me. I was so scared it took a while to tell anyone. The first person I told was my older brother and he went looking for Dre, but didn't find him. My brother told our parents what happened so they came and talked to me about it, but I never did tell the police. The second experience I was dating this guy named Cory. He was always calling me names and one day my Grandma came to visit because she lives out of town and I wanted to spend some time with her, but Cory didn't like that. He was calling me all sorts of names and then told me to fuck
