In doing so Coren shows how people use dogs to make their lives more comfortable and that early people would use dogs at first as essentially a form of garbage disposal. That is until primitive people realized the security that the wolves and jackals had to offer. This, Coren claims, is when genetic engineering first began. Early humans recognized that some of the wolves and jackals around their camps would begin to bark if people from other camps or wild animals approached during the night. They understood that if there was guard dogs surrounding the camp at night the need to have human security watching their camps was unnecessary allowing the humans to save energy for other important tasks such as hunting for food.
Some characteristics of Naturalism include character’s lives that are dictated by passion, heredity, or instinct, heroic actions, violent deaths, and a plot that has “chronicle of despair” (Campbell). Naturalism shows characteristics of instinct and passion; Burk shows passion when he discovers his love for the woods after John Thorton saves his life. Burk also shows instinct when he becomes the alpha of his dog pack and later when he reverts from being loyal to John Thorton back to being wolf-like. Another situation where Buck shows instinct is when he fought with Spitz, “He fought by instinct but he could fight by head as well” (London 34.) This shows that Buck could judge when to use instinct or smarts.

Damian Lewandowski Anthropology 105 Observation Gray wolves are usually very aggressive and wild animals; however some wolves are capable of being domesticated and show obedient, compliant, and submissive traits that are usually found in dogs – others do not. Deduction Being native to wilderness, grey wolves remote areas of North America, Eurasia, and North Africa. (Wikipedia) It could be deducted that a very possible explanation for the pattern of domesticating wolves is gene flow. High diversity and mixing genes from different populations could result in a development of a new gene or trait that allows humans to easily control the uninhabited wolves. Hypothesis If we mix diverse groups of wild grey wolves from different geographical
I think the reason Haddon uses diagrams to show us this is to relate it to Christopher’s pictorial mind and to explain to us how he interprets emotion. We also learn that Christopher is fond of dogs and he thinks they are more ‘intelligent than some humans’. The diagram relates to this in the respect that a dog can only recognise ‘happy’ or ‘sad’. Although Christopher is highly intelligent his social skills and interpretation of humans is similar to that of a dogs. He even uses dog like behaviour such as ‘barking’ later in the book to ward people off.
Even though these dogs had some pretty horrible times; they started to come up in the world and some people were realizing how great this breed really could be. In the opinion of many breeders, “pit bulls can be excellent companion dogs if they're properly trained and socialized with other dogs
I believe that Al Knight's argument is much more effective than the Irate Dog Owner. Knight's reason is not only more solid but is also backed up with a lot of evidence to conclude that the law for Colorado pickup owners benefits their dogs. Unlike Knight the Irate Dog Owner who expresses in his letter that simply for his own personal reasons he is against the law. So I conclude that Knight's article “Perhaps We Should Move to Save Dogs From Their Owners” proves to be the more effective argument of the

Research Paper How Dogs Can Be More Than Just Best Friends At first sight, service dogs look like any other dog. They are furry, walk on all fours, and have a tail, but they have many differences from other dogs. Service dogs are well behaved and obedient. They wear clothing that no other dog wears such as a vest to make people aware they are service dogs. Service dogs perform tasks that no other dogs can do, like paying for meals and carrying objects for their owners, sometimes in a vest compartment like a backpack (Davis).
