DOG FIGHTING! Dog fighting is performed all over the world today. In many states this act against the law and if a person is pursued, they are convicted with a felony offense. However, the individuals have to be caught in the act in order to be charged. Using dogs to fight can serve as entertainment, money making, ranking in gangs, and gambling. People have to treat these beautiful animals horribly to make them mean so that they become the most aggressive dog. There should be no remorse for people who are intrigued by dog fighting. Better and more entertaining activities are in this world other than watching an animal go through these cruel and horrible punishments. The American Society Prevention of Cruelty to Animals dates’ dog fighting back to the 1750’s (ASPCA). The widespread of this activity really emerged after the civil war. Ironically, the fighting was entertainment for police officers and firemen. The Police Gazette was the major source of information for dog fighting for many years. Although there were many laws approved to prohibit dog fighting, it continued to expand throughout the whole world during the twentieth century (ASPCA). Animal lovers consider dog fighting to be one of the most vicious forms of animal cruelty. Not only do the dogs endure serious injuries during the and after the fight, they also suffer through serious abuse during training (K9 Obedience). The major mindset among dog fighters is that, the more the dog is tortured, the stronger and tougher the animal will become, and the better it will be as well (K9 Obedience).
