For example, a teenager who has friends that are aggressive. That teenager can change his behaviour and come also aggressive due to the environment influences that he is around nearly everyday of the individual’s life. There are debates that argue that people are shaped by biology and genetics. The nurture that if it is the social, economic or environmental influences around a person that makes them a certain way, such as life experience. Some say that social life is the most important factor in determining who are and how we behave. The nature or nurture debate is concerned the with the contributions of genetic inheritance, and environmental factors to human development.
It has been named the most complex birth defect compatible with survival. Research has been done but, there is urgency for more research as well as awareness because the findings and conclusions can aid in the help of other chronic disorders sharing one or more of the same features. There are several different estimates of instances of spina bifida in many parts of the world. This is doing to a lack
M1 :Discuss the nature-nurture debate in relation to the development of an individual In this assignment I will be discussing the nature- nurture debate in relation to the development of an individual. The nature- nurture debate has been around for many centuries which argues about the role of heredity and environment in human development. The nature – nurture debate is concerned with particular aspects of behaviour which are believed to be either a product of inherited or learned characteristics. Some philosophers and theorists have argued that we are just born to be the way we are. Whereas other theorists have argued that is is the way we are brought up and influenced by our surroundings that makes an individual the way they are.
M1; Discuss the nature-nurture debate in relation to the development of an individual. D1; Evaluate how nature and nurture may affect the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development in two stages of the development of an individual. The debate between the nature and nurture in relation to the development of an individual has being going on for years. The question is what is influenced more, the genetic factors which is nature (inherited) or the environmental factors which is nurture (learned as the individual grows)? The arguments of an individual’s physical features are due to nature; e.g.
As person with more knowledge about this specific topic then most people in my age, I know what some of the people with a handicap feel and what they think in some situations. They can feel haunted by the society and the government. They feel like they’re just some kind of trouble, whom most people would rather see as none-existing. And in the world that we live in, you can as a pregnant get examination, which shows if you’re child is handicapped, and if it is, you can decide to get an abortion. Is that fair?
Nature vs Nurture Describe what the nature vs nurture debate is and say what you think has been the most important aspect for upbringing The term ‘Nature’ means what we genetically inherit for example eye colour, hair colour, skin colour etc. and the term ‘Nurture’ means how the environment influences us physically and mentally, for example, peer groups, media, education etc. However, there is a huge debate regarding both nature and nurture. Many people, especially scientists, suspected that nature influences our behaviour and lifestyle more than nurture. This is because there are many factors that are believed to be inherited by our parents such as intelligence and addictions.
Emotions define who we are to ourselves, as well to others. They are the central core of psychiatric disorders and can change our physical well-being. Emotional experiences can leave strong traces in the brain, either good or bad. Scientists once thought that memories would only go to one system in the brain. But they have discovered that there are various ways for memories to be formed.
Nature vs. Nurture Over the years, there has been a lot of controversy on whether or not genes that we inherit affect us and how we live, or if it is the environment that we have been raised in. There are many different reasons for why one is more correct than that other. But, all of the reasons can be backed up with very good evidence and reasoning. Personality, development, intelligence, behavior and ability to do certain things make us the individuals that we are. But what influences those things?
The debate over nature versus nurture has been argued since the early years of psychology, perhaps even earlier when Aristotle proposed that humans have “four different types of causation, formal causes, material causes, efficient causes, and final causes,” (Moore, 21) that can explain the adaptation of certain characteristics in individuals over time . Psychologists today are still debating whether human behavioral traits are acquired through learning (Nurture) or if we have a predisposition to behave a certain way because of genetics (Nature). The nature versus nurture debate has since been branched off into many other psychological aspects of human characteristics. Traits such as intelligence, athleticism, and even our own individual personalities are just some of the topics researched by psychologist. So are our behavioral traits and characteristics learned and capable of change?
