People can take advantage of this free college, taxes can be raised, and it can take more time for employees, but there is a way you can fix all of the problems. To be able to have free community college, there should be restrictions against it. If a student doesn’t have a 3.0 grade point average, or if as student doesn’t have a 18 or higher on their ACT, if the attendance is below 95%, and a high school diploma. if there requirements aren’t met, then you shouldn’t allow free community college to that particular person. In conclusion, I believe free community college should be allowed.
Education is the key to economic mobility and avoiding poverty. Having a poor economic outlook restricts these labor immigrants from ever being able to find that upward mobility. “If most immigrants are not illiterate, they also are not all college graduates” (Portes and Rambaut 68). We need to have more professionals in our state because we lag behind many others on maintaining a strong economy. Building a stronger economy means being able to have the millions that are here continue their education and this would have positive impact on the economy.
It increases the support of the alumni, creating more active parents. This results in more donations if their children are enrolled in the same school they once were. With these donations, schools are able to maintain lower tuition costs benefitting the school and the students. Also, government interference would limit the tradition of the universities. They know that the schools offer education based on their resources and if schools in these areas aren’t offered enough resources they cannot provide a quality education for those kids. They claim that without a quality education, generational poverty will never cease.
I believe if education was mandatory and if there were equal education opportunities for all the people in Annawadi the amount of poverty would be minimized. I believe it would also decrease the amount of corruption in the society. I think it would make a positive impact on the hospitals and other government ran facilities. Carnegie believed it was better to benefit mankind then just individual’s needs. Better to provide futures and successes through libraries then give away money for those to make no important use of it. Money cannot buy happiness but it can give people opportunities. “It is here; we cannot evade it; no substitutes for it have been found; and while the law may be sometimes hard for the individual, it is best for the race, because it insures the survival of the fittest in every
They will have the opportunity to have their education paid for, understand the importance of education, and possibly learn a valuable skill while being able to serve their country. The promise of enlistment bonuses and money for college is guaranteed in writing when a person enlists. Money and opportunity for college is always available. Some people just do not desire to get a higher education, even if they don’t have to pay for it.
Legacy Admission Debate There will never be a day that the world is fair. Discrimination is illegal now, but accepting people based on legacy remains legal. This adds more obstacles for minorities and gives people less of a chance of getting into a college, if they do not come from a college educated family. Universities may need the money they get from legacies to keep tuition affordable, and it might be impossible to function without it, but that does not change the fact that it is unfair and keeps everyone from having an equal opportunity. Legacy admissions should be banned because they allow students with average credentials to be accepted over students with far more impressive ones.
“Communities benefit from less crime, more homeownership and increased time for parents to spend with their kids” (Hurd, 785). These benefits are all intertwined and have an affect on one another. When parents can make living-wages at one job, then that frees up time to spend with their families, which in turn would lead to more supervision and therefore safer
