The United States is the strongest government in the world and the media puts it down so very hard. It has gotten to the point where everything that you hear on the news and proclaimed by the media is in a negative manner. The media is hiding the good points of the story just to make an interesting story about the bad. It makes me sick! Now to hear about the hidden points of the war in Iraq I will explain them and prove how the media puts down this great uplifting story.
From kidnappings, to murders, to rapes, to bank robbing, to car accidents, to terrorist warnings, to abducted children... the list goes on and on. Basically if someone’s not getting hurt, somethings not getting taken, or someone in the government is not doing something wrong, there is no story. With that said, “Fact: the higher you go in the business, the more time you will spend standing blind folded on the media firing line” (Pg 182). As Richard Nixon put it, “the press is the enemy” (Pg 183). For politicians, all reporters are trying to do is exploit any wrong move.
Does the documentary successfully appeal to the target audience? Yes, I think that the documentary appeals to the target audience very well, as the information being given and the whole documentary itself is something that adults are into as they vote for the government and they want to make sure that they are having the correct leader. 4. Does the documentary follow a clear structure? I think that it is very easy to understand and there is a lot of information provided in the film to help us understand what is going on but the fact that it is such a long documentary it can get boring and people will lose interest and forget what is happening.
To fully get the attention of the reader on the subject of television, the author had to do excessive research, especially on the ancient of the television. Neil Postman has so many facts to back up his argument; he even goes back to the 19th century. Readers can now have the same argument as Postman bring in the book; he gives enough facts that as a class we can have a discussion (argument). Postman, I don’t believe he uses Pathos; it’s more the emotional change that the people take from reading this book that changes the emotion of what they think the television media has done to society. But isn’t what Postman used.
Manipulation of media is of course one of the main factors. Nowadays, we know all too well how easily it is for media corporations to support one political agenda or another by twisting facts and feeding false information. Consumerism, supported and viralized by media, also carries a message which tends to separate those who consume a certain kind of product from those who do not, stating that the former are happier than the latter. This exercises certain social pressure among consumerist individuals who may somehow see their social status affected and thus feel left out. As a result, the key for the survival of individuality lies in how conformist the people are ready and willing to become.
All the President's Men is an important film because it gives us a behind the scenes look as to how one of the most famous scandals in American history was broken. The hard work and determination of the two journalists who reported the story, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, will never be forgotten and they will always be looked upon as legends in the journalism world. Woodward and Bernstein needed to pursue this story for many reasons. Most importantly because the public has the right to know if the government is engaged in illegal activities. If Woodward and Bernstein hadn't pursued the story, the scandal would have likely never gotten out, and the public would have never known about the unjust and wrong actions of the Nixon administration.
When significant things happen or the nation is on alert, we as Americans rely and trust what news reporters, radio stations, and newspaper journalists have to say. However, current media nowadays tend to report with more biased opinions and less fact. Often times, we would hear about celebrities such as their engagements, scandals, DUI cases in which all are sold to catch the media’s attention. As a society, we seem to always focus our attention to things that are less important to our lives, instead of being more cautious and aware of news that can affect our daily lives. Both companies are not real people so they shouldn’t have the right to say why there company is better that’s ridiculous. Without people knowing who is the better TV provider or better candidate all depends on what kind of advertisement that company puts out. So all the ads you see on TV will either make fun of the company or say how bad they are on what they produce or they will do. Big ways corporations get their ads out are on social media nowadays. With Facebook the top social media website you know companies are going to get their ads on there.

(source F) TV producers know that their audience isn't going to watch a boring debate, so they take out the important issues to get the highest rating. This is just another example of how TV has had a negative impact on Presidential elections.
