Part time jobs have shown to be able to perfect financial management skills necessary for academic success and give students career experience which will later help them in life. Studies also show that students who work on campus are more likely to persist in their studies as they are becoming independant. Through your job, you'll become better acquainted with faculty, staff, and other students. Despite this many believe that a part time job hinders a student’s educational goals and draws them away from their main focus which is meant to be school. Ultimately having a part time job can help a student’s educational goals by many factors. A part time job for students is a good idea because students nowadays spend their parent’s money on a many things they want not realising that the money they spent was earned by hard work and determination. By working and receiving pay cheques, students will soon learn how they need to budget their money and create a saving account for future needs. It also teaches them the value of the dollar and important questions they should ask themselves whenever they are about to make a purchase such as “Should I spent my hard earned money on this? Is this what I want or need?” This is the type of skills a person needs at a young age so they can develop this skill as they grow older. Many teenagers these days are becoming more and more independent, but very lazy at the same time. Parents are letting their children disobey more rules and going unpunished however with these particular arrangements, many teens are taking advantage of their independence, and not using in the proper way.
