In society many would think that teaching financial literacy in high school is not a good idea because the students already have many things to worry about. They think that teaching financial literacy would just add on to the load. They also assume that financial literacy skills are just common sense. Whereas some people also believe that teaching financial literacy is an excellent idea because it will help the students manage their future finances well. It will help them understand the basics of financial planning as it is not common sense.
The good thing about teacher offering extra points for participation in charity drives is that those will get more student participation than normal. Most students will ignore or just forget to donate if there’s nothing in it for them. It also raises awareness of charities or world/national/community problems in general. Most students if it doesn’t affect their life then it’snot important. By teachers giving points then students also get an opportunity to help them raise their grade.
Many affiliations involve customized degree programs target specific industries or functions that are important to the company. Some academic affiliations include a reduced tuition cost for employees of a company at a certain college. By earning a degree at a selected academic provider the employee receive a discount on tuition, therefore making their tuition money last longer. (Rodriguez) Many gifted employees constantly want to master and advance, if they feel they are not mastering and advancing, they are not remaining ambitious with their peers for promotional opportunities and career growth. Once top employees feel that they are no longer mastering, they begin to look elsewhere for a new job opportunity.
Though they may be focused on the incentives, the knowledge they are taught is still being exposed to them. However, some programs do not even allow students to spend their money until they have graduated from that school. Yet, there are still those who think our society is expecting too much out of students. From Time Magazine “Is Cash The Answer?” Amanda Ripley says, “we seem to be holding kids to a
One reason a student should receive extra credit to pass, is that they have trouble with that one specific subject. If you don’t understand something it’s hard to get it right on a test. Many tutoring services arn’t free, and some families don’t have the extra cash laying around. Some students after seeing there failing grade just completely give up. Teachers should give them extra credit they can still have a chance at passing the class.
In “Grades and Money” by Steve Vogel, the author mentions, “… they talk about their grades all the time”(Page 389). Students rarely speak about what they are learning from the course, which is what education is all about. They don’t understand that grades just show if you passed or failed the course. Instead of taking a course that they are interested in, students take courses that they will be able to earn a high grade. “By tying grades to money, we give students incentives not to take risks” (Vogel, 392) that stop them from choosing challenging courses in college.
In “Generation R”, Peck writes in a situation about the thought of new generation. Some instances show that young adults are not ready to face their independent lives. Jean Twenge, an associate professor of psychology, is found that young people who graduated from high school dislike the idea of work for work’s sake, and expect jobs and career to be tailored to their interests and lifestyle. They also have very high material expectations, and believe financial success is extremely important. Twenge says, “There’s this idea that, ‘Yeah, I don’t want to work, but I’m still going to get all the stuff I want” (Peck 303).
An educational facility that is given adequate resources has a much better chance of pushing the boundaries of education and developing new and effective methods of learning. Currently, many teachers are required to pull money out of their own pocket just to acquire the materials needed for their class to finish the curriculum. These teachers are being barred from a right to think freely about how their students think because of budgeting. The only way to improve education standards in the U.S. is to show the proper respect to it, both socially and out of our
They will have the opportunity to have their education paid for, understand the importance of education, and possibly learn a valuable skill while being able to serve their country. The promise of enlistment bonuses and money for college is guaranteed in writing when a person enlists. Money and opportunity for college is always available. The most common reason that this writer has observed for it not being used is lack of desire by the individual. Some people just do not desire to get a higher education, even if they don’t have to pay for it.
Where I come from people who are in poverty are on welfare and they seem to work the system just so they do not have to work, but now after watching the video it has definitely opened up my eyes to what is really going on. Most people can’t help their situation especially where I am from because there are not many jobs available. Now I do understand that they have the choice to finish school or maybe no depending on their family situation. But if they are not able at the time they should at least go get their GED. Sometimes even having that may not get you a good enough job to provide for your family.
