It will discuss how it was unfair to students that were entering college for sports gave minorities an unfair advantage to all, not just non-minorities. This paper will provide examples how the affirmative-action was not working to help everyone obtain a higher education. Many elite universities in the United States have delved into the issue of affirmative-action and the role affirmative action plays during the admission stage. Many universities automatically give minorities, African Americans and Hispanics, up to 230 points on a 1600 point SAT scale. Those entering for sports reasons obtain 200 admission points.
Alejandro Zetter 01/27/11 M. Gonzalez College Success Discrimination Discrimination is a term we have all learned by personal experience whether we noticed we have been victims of it or not. We have all been discriminated in some way during our lifetime and it is around us everywhere, every day, all the time. It can be right in front of you but you would not even notice because society tells us it is ok to discriminate sometimes. This is because everything around us is run, managed, decided by white people. Caucasians are the dominate race in the United States and this can be proved all throughout history and is even true today.
There are many colleges and universities that have tried to improve their graduation rates and have succeeded in doing so (Davis, 2010). Graduation rate of any country is a reflection of far more than what may seem. The number of college students graduating from a college shows an insight to its accountability and transparency. The graduation rates show a great deal about the college itself and a low number of graduating students may indicate an unsatisfactory performance by the college or it may point towards something faulty within the organization (Sealey-Morris, 2015). The constant increment in the wage given to the students in order to increase the college graduation rate has been unsuccessful in tackling the situation and the increased amount of students enrolled in college courses are not directly proportional to the amount of students graduating from these colleges.

Hispanic Americans have all come from comparable backgrounds and have come to the United States to reach for the American dream. Each group became a citizen of the United States in a different way, but are citizens nonetheless. The Bay Area is filled with millions of different races. Being raised in this area, I have had friends with different backgrounds and because of this I feel like I’ve become a very open-minded and mature individual. Without immigrants and their children following, our country would not be as diverse as it is today. However, due to the racism of our past and the still occurring racism today we haven’t become one community. After I read the

As corny as it sounds, when a person joins one of these amazing organizations, it comes with a life-long support system and an amazing group of people that you can truly call brothers or sisters. Each individual joined their particular sorority or fraternity because they saw a bit of themselves in each of the members, and that likeness and connection does not disappear. Everyone shares an unbreakable bond that is indescribable, and can literally be found across the world at any given moment. Whether it be through raising money, volunteering to clean up run-down homes for people in need, or simply bonding over a game night, I would never be who I am without my sorority sisters. They constantly help me to grow and become a better and stronger person.
