Multicultural teams can differ in terms of diversity along a range of dimensions such as nationality, ethnicity, values, and religion. These dimensions or the surface level traits lead to negative and positive perception of cultural diversity (Mannix, 2005). Theories like similarity-attraction, social identity and social categorization explain how similar people are attracted to each other and how people categorize themselves as in group and other as out group members. This stereotypical thinking leads to inequality, discrimination, minority sub group formation and conflict (Mannix, 2005).
