1.1 This report is written to examine the effects of capital punishment on the society as several issues has caused government and non-government organisation as well as societies around the globe to analyse the relationship between the two. According to deathpenalty.procon.org (2008), the practice of killing people as punishment for serious crimes they have committed first started back in the “18th century B.C. in the Code of King Hammurabi of Babylon, which codified the death penalty for 25 different crimes”. However, it’s been argued the cost of capital punishment is more than putting a criminal through maximum sentence – life imprisonment and there is a possibility of making an irreversible mistake of executing an innocent person.
