Even academic institutions are known for their sports. The problem, however, with the popularity of sports in society today, is that every individual is watching. Actions in sports, especially the negative ones, never go unnoticed. Presently there have been several incidents of discrimination and racism in professional sports. Most recognized, however, is racism against black people and Latinos?
Racism during the Civil War Racism has always been enforced, since the beginning of the world to nowadays. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, racism is defined, as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities. Racism is a specific form of prejudice, which involves prejudicial attitudes towards members of an ethnic group. Racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Sadly, some individuals believe that another person is less human than them.

There are many reasons that an individual might experience bias. Discrimination can be based on one’s race, religious affiliation, appearance or sexual orientation. In the essays “Ethics of Living Jim Crow” and “How It Feels to Be Colored Me” both of the main characters are discriminated against because of their race.

The central theme of this book is based on racism which is just another form of biased hatred. THE CONTROVERSY OF MALCOLM X Ever since he first appeared as a spokesperson for the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X has raised many controversies. His revolutionary speeches influenced many disadvantaged black people. However, he was also severely criticized for his demands for total separation between blacks and whites in America. In his speeches, he often referred to the whites as the "devils". In his view, the white race in general was guilty for the suppression and sufferings of the black race.
People judge me as “the white girl” and therefore assume I won’t play as well as my colored teammates. Of course, sometimes this is true, but on the other hand, it’s nearly impossible to ring true all the time. On one of the AAU summer basketball teams I played with, I was one of the two white girls in our year. Everywhere we went, she and I were presumed to be the worst players on our team (this wasn’t true). She and I were very different players, but we both were able to prove most people wrong.

Although each word has their own specific meaning, all four are interconnected creating the same product that is nothing but hate and violence towards mankind.
Throughout sports history, cheating has existed in every sport in some way, shape, or form, which has caused whatever sport it is to become damaged, sometimes permanently. There are many different ways to cheat in sports, such as fixing games, placing bets on teams, lying about your age, and the biggest one of them all, taking performance enhancing substances. Sports such as baseball, track and field, weightlifting, and cycling have all had major problems with performance enhancing substances in recent years. This has caused all of these sports to all face major criticism from fans and the media. Even athletes that are clean in sports such as Lance Armstrong, Usain Bolt, and Michael Phelps have all been faced with criticism, as these athletes are accused by some of taking these performance enhancing substances, even though none of them have ever tested positive for these substances, and also tell people that they would never put these drugs into their bodies.
