NCLB set forth a certain criteria to be met, but allowed the states to determine how they would accomplish it. Therefore, each state handles assessment and accountability differently. This makes it hard to show success or failure of the programs. Supporters and critics alike can cite research that supports their opinion. My opinion of NCLB is it is flawed, developmentally inappropriate, ill funded, ←and→ leaving more students, teachers, ←and→ schools behind than ever before because The tests have turned into the objective of classroom instruction rather than the measure of teaching ←and→ learning.
There is also the need for training and the interviewer needs to have a background into education increasing the cost. As a result a small sample will be studied in comparison to other methods like questionnaires. This means that it will not be representative so cannot be generalised to different pupil subcultures. Willis’ qualitative methods enable him to find out about working class pupils resisting attempts to indoctrinate them in school. Theses ‘lads’ formed a counter school subculture that was opposed to school and showed this by flouting school rules for example truanting.
When a student is in new surroundings they will search and test the grounds on which they can and cannot do. There can be a fundamental reason such as ADHD. When a student is over active they could have developmental problems, and maybe they are frightened to have the child tested. The plan that I would use is clarifying the rules in the classroom and then displaying him or her classroom techniques. Maybe sometimes you have to show the student more than once to understand the procedures.

This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). Many teachers do not like “catching plagiarists and bringing them to academic justice.” As she states, it is not hard to just cite the author that originally had the information you are using (Bojar). Plagiarism is becoming a big problem in the school system. Many students do not understand what needs to be cited and what does not. The school system should teach students the proper way to cite, and they should teach them that copy and pasting is not writing a paper. It also burdens colleges with providing preparation that should have taken place earlier. (Bauerlein) Bauerlein takes a dig at teachers for not preparing their students well enough to be successful in their next step in life, college. Because of the bad preparation teachers give the students, when they are ready to go to college they are bound to take remedial classes because if they take normal courses they will most likely fail them. It is a teacher’s duty to prepare the student for his future. It is the schools responsibility to be able to provide good enough teachers, who can prepare these students.
Moore heard a talk show person talk about how people do not even know basic literature and when Moore calls up the talk show person the person did not even know what the books were. This shows how people talk about how bad teachers are but the teachers are not the problem. He talks about how humans live in a democracy when they live in America, but students learn in a totalitarian government when they are in schools. This shows how schools cannot do anything to protect themselves due to the pressure that the government is putting on them. Moore also describes a situation where a school that is sponsoring Coco-Cola has a picture and the kids can only wear Coca-Cola apparel and one kid wears another T-Shit to school.
