These incredible animals were first declared game in 1950 because they were thought to be a threat to people and livestock. It's hard to believe but at the beginning of the 20th century, there were over 500 of these animals roaming around. Many factors contribute to why these animals have become endangered. Catfights, automobile collisions, illegal hunting, mercury poisoning, and disease are just part of it. Catfights mainly happen when two cats are fighting for territory.
This makes them critically endangered. They are currently surviving in patches of forest across the island of Sumatran. The reason for their rapid decline is accelerated deforestation and rampant poaching. These problems have occurred before with the Sumatran Tigers’ close relatives the Balinese and Javan Tigers, which are now extinct. Many Tigers are killed in self-defence due to the increased frequency of attacks that have taken place over the last 10 years.
Indiana Bats are a rare species and is listed on the Ohio state and federal endangered list. They were placed on the federal list in 1967 due to people disturbing hibernating bats in caves and the killing large numbers of bat. Also the commercialization of caves, loss of summer habitat, pesticides, and the disease white-nose syndrome (US fish and wildlife service, 2013). Some animals cannot adapt to change because of that they slowly die away as to their habitat humans gets smaller and more people mess around the caves. More than 30 million people including the indigenous people count on the forest for food, agriculture, clothing, and traditional medicines (Amazon). The truth is that some of the indigenous tribes in South America will go extinct along with their unique language due to deforestation. The amazon is home to some of the most stunning animals such as, the gorilla, jaguar, pink dolphin, the macaw, and many others. Deforestation of the amazon is annihilating the homes of these marvelous creatures. Animal habitats are also being destroyed or altered due to deforestation.
Horse Slaughter Horse slaughter is a practice that slaughters horses for meat. There are many reasons why some cultures and societies do this kind of slaughter. The main reason is for meat and money. Some of cultures wait till the horse or horses are old or severely injured. Most ex-athletes are slaughtered or sold to slaughter houses because they were not collecting income or were worn out and was physically unable to do anything anymore.
The meat was also a big issue during this time because it was not packaged properly, which causes bacteria and infections to grow and my people sick. Laws were eventually implemented to stop this and sterilize everything before sale. Four amendments were also put in place because of the citizens during this time pushing to better the United States and bring down corruption in this country. The one that we all know of would be the dreaded income tax laws that we put up with now, but without those our government would not be at the point that it is at today. Women were also granted the right to vote for the presidential office and other laws during this period of time which led to equality.
The black bear can climb trees while he is retreating, by contrast, the brown bear has to stand his ground because his claws are too small and improperly shaped, so they must respond to danger by warding off any would be attackers. Bears have been dehumanized. An open dumpster in Yellowstone was closed because, both the black and brown came to associate humans with food and lost their natural fear of them. Many native American tribes both respected and feared the brown bear, even thinking it was a god. One tale tells of how the black bear was a great spirit, while the brown bear was created by the evil spirit.
