Digital Camera Digital cameras are similar in appearance to non-digital cameras and offer many of the same features in addition to some unique features. Digital cameras capture the image electronically and store it as digital file until it is downloaded onto a computer viewing. Digital cameras may include many of the features of non-digital cameras including an optical viewfinder similar to those found on compact 35mm cameras, which gives a view that is slightly different from that taken through a lens. As technology improves better quality digital cameras are becoming available at cheaper prices. There is also no need to purchase films and third party processing is eliminated. Some digital cameras offer a single lens reflex viewfinder, which gives a true representation of the image to be recorded. Once the shutter is released the image is recorded onto a charge-couple device (CCD), which is a grid, or array, of tiny light sensors that convert it into tiny elements called pixels. This determines the maximum resolution of the image.
