Best Friends, Close Friends, and Acquaintances "Life without a friend is like death without a witness." -Spanish Proverb. We all have friends; different people have different tastes and hence make different types of friends. They tend to bond with some and stay away from some. With time and growing trust, some people get really close to each other and remain true friends. They stand up for each other in times of need and provide full support when you lose confidence in yourself. However, every friend is not the same type. One might have more close friends than acquaintances, while others might have more acquaintances than close friends, but either way, majority of people that develop great friendships either fall into one of the categories, or even each of the three categories: best friends, close friends, and acquaintances. Every person has a best friend, if not more. They are your absolute closest friends in life, and you wouldn't give them up for anyone else. This kind of friend is your nonromantic soul mate. You do everything together. These are the people that you will grow old with. Friends in this category are usually very few. Furthermore, a best friend will be there to support us during our struggles and obstacles in life. You can talk to each other about anything and everything, without feeling embarrassed. Whether they are very opposite or similar, generally they never run out of things to talk about. They know each other’s secrets, because they can trust one another to keep them. In addition, they will give us honest feedback about anything, whether it is about an outfit that one has picked out for a particular day, or what one can and cannot do on a date. Best friends will give advice when it is necessary because not only do they care, but also want the best for each other. They might even risk the friendship to tell you what is best for you. A best
