Amanda kept a lot of secrets to herself, like that she was pregnant and that she was black mailing Cherry’s dad. When Amanda’s body was found down at the waterfront it turned out that she was pregnant. No-body knew about this, not her friends or her boyfriend, not even her family knew about this. In the novel Kate stated that she knew nothing of this. She said “There were things Amanda wasn’t telling her.” Amanda didn’t share a lot of her secrets with the people in the group which just shows that the group didn’t really know her at all.
His great grandmother's step brother was kidnapped by the Indians in Texas when he was a young child. His great uncle was forever affected by his time spent with the Indians. Upon his uncles return to his family, he never again slept indoors and later in his life even left his home to live a solitary life in a cave. Scott Zesh, was naturally intrigued by his ancient ancestor and began a search to find out more about his great uncle. He started to ask around and was disappointed to find out that his family didn't recall much about his great uncle.
The fact that Royal, after twenty two years, decided to give his wife a divorce before marrying Henry shows how much he has grown and formed into a man who has developed the ability to think of others. Another example of this transformation is Royal’s self jeopardizing act of saving Ari and Uzi from Eli crashing the car into the house. Throughout the movie, Royal has always seemed to look out for number one, but this act put himself in danger to save his grandsons that never really knew him. Overtime, Royal has an epiphany that these last days living with his family were truly the most important and best days of his
Because his parents have died in a car accident, Ponyboy lives with his brothers Darry and Sodapop. Darry repeatedly accuses Ponyboy of lacking common sense, but Ponyboy is a reliable youth. Throughout the novel, Ponyboy struggles with class division, violence, innocence, and familial love. He matures over the course of the novel, eventually realising the importance of friendship and the feeling of respect. Though he is only fourteen years old, he understands the way his social group functions and the role each group member plays.
It shows times of when they hung out and were friends at one point. The story continues to jump between the present and the past relationships of these two Indians. The boys had been friends until they were about 15. At that time for some reason they stopped being friends and got into a big fight. All the other Indians just stood around and watched Victor beat Thomas up for no reason.
In Leave It to Beaver to find the “ideal” family like June and Wards, a family with two parents. They show you another family called the Mondello, a family with two parents but, it always seems like the Mr. is out of town, making it seem like a single parent home. Many tines does Ms. Mondello ask the Cleavers for help parenting her son on her own. It made it seem like single parent homes always had problems and that they child was always on trouble. Back in the 1950s single parents home were considered taboo, you rarely ever saw it, that and interracial couples were never shown on Leave It to Beaver, nor were those who were part of the lgbt community.
They both ran as fast as they could. When they were 15, Victor got drunk and proceeded to beat Thomas up for no apparent reason and instead of Thomas getting mad an hitting him back, he didn’t he just went home like nothing had ever happened. Victor is a young Indian man who was reckless, has no real connection with his family members, except for his Mother. Since his father left him and the reservation when he was young, Victor has gotten rebellious and hostile at times. He drinks and does not feel any real connection to the Native American Indian ways of life.
Unit 1 - Drama Exploration of the theme ‘Peer Pressure’ - Documentary Response To present the theme of Peer Pressure, I’ve used the stimuli of the 1953’s Case of Derek Bentley. He was a 19-year-old with a mentality of a 11-year-old, due to the bad injury he experienced during the Blitz in WWII. This lack of mentality gives him the innocence of a child with the physical features of a man. He was unable to think as an adult and often gets aid from his sister to go through his daily life. Due to his parent’s very strong will for him to go out and explore the outside world, Derek often kept himself in and sat around in his room, smoke and read comics, isolating himself from the outside world because he was afraid of it, showing the amount of stress he receives from his parents and peer pressure in such ways.
Smoke Signals The film opened with such tragedy as Thomas’ mother and father died due to a fire in their home. Thomas was always telling stories and joking while Victor was more quite and assertive . Both boys faced difficulties during their youth and never really got along until they embarked on a journey to collect Arnold's remains. I thought the entire trip was very noble and inspiring. Both boys learned a lot about themselves and each other.
One example of flashback as employed in the short story is a seven year old Thomas telling Victor a story of his father, who at the time resides at home. Thomas tells him, “Your father's heart is weak, he's afraid of his own family, he's afraid of you, (Alexie 61).” Yet in the film, we see the development of Arnold's character when by accident, he comes upon Thomas while he is off on a secret quest looking for a vision from the forefathers. Arnold laughs at the telling and takes him to Denny's for breakfast and then home to the reservation though he extracts a promise from Thomas to look out for Victor and to help him when needed. A second example of flashback inAlexie’s short story is at the age of ten, Victor asks Thomas to tell him a story after the fireworks show. Thomas responds with a tale of two boys wanting to be Indian braves.
