Difference view of my grandparent and parent about culture Being strong believers in culture, my grandparent were made the chief priest of Igboku land; they are well respected and honored. My grandfather would say to me, “ believe and you will never be lost” I was just 5 years old then, I would laugh at him because I have no idea what he was talking about. He has never been to church or mosque. Although my dad was his favorite son, they both have different cultural belief. My parent and grandparent differ in their view of culture, in that they see different beliefs, marriage style, and way of dressing. My grandparent belief in their own traditional religion, they tend to worship their own god called “Osun”. They belief all their blessing comes from Osun, and they sacrifice twelve goats to him every month end. My parent never stepped into the house of Osun. My parent made me realize that Osun is just a handmade God and he will perish one day. On the other hand, my grandparents cherish and respect their deity to the extent that an elaborate festival is done every two months to honor Osun. During the festival, everyone has to be in white wrapper, including the male, beads are placed on the neck and waists of the females, and they have to carry a calabash on their head and walk around the village singing and dancing. I attended the festival ones but i didn’t participate in any of the activities. In contrast, my parent belief in Islam, and they make us go to mosque every Friday and Sunday. Also we are expected to pray five times a day. Also my parents and grandparent differ in their way of marriage. In Igboku village where my grandparent lives, when two couples are getting married, they have to wear a white gown. The husband is asked to choose from two covered pot, one contains salt and the other contains honey, if he chooses the one with salt, the wedding will me
