He was a transitional musician between the classical and the romantic periods and therefore his music was a distinct split from the past. His compositions were different and cutting edge. Love the Way you Lie, was written by three different people. The Chorus, sung by Rihanna, was co-written by Alex da Kid, an English songwriter and producer, and Skylar Grey, a young female musician; the words of the verses were written by Eminem, a successful rapper. This song combines traditional pop music with that of hip-hop, a style that became popular in the eighties in the African American community and is characterized by poetry performed in time to a distinct beat.
She’s known at her shows for her impromptu style; she’ll perform a brand new song at random, or do a call-and-response section in the middle of her song unbeknownst to her band and/or back-up singers. What I like about her is her resistance to the status quo, her sounds has been to her original style for over ten years. Badu’s fifth studio album, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) will be released on March 30, 2010. While it is important to know all about my favorite singer, I cannot say she is the first to have such a diverse style. She was heavily influenced by no other than the late, great, “Lady of Song,” Ms. Ella Fitzgerald.
We’ve been examining the role of technology and fandom in popular musics. The vocaloid, holographic pop star Hatsune Miku is a prime example of where technology and fandom intersect. Based on the 6 part documentary of Hatsune Miku and our discussion of how gender is constructed rather than inherent, discuss how Hatsune Miku is being constructed as a gendered performer by her fans. How can fans modify and interact with Hatsune Miku? What are the implications of fans’ control of Hatsune Miku?
Have you ever taken notice that sounds with melody, harmony and rhythm has such a powerful impact on American culture? As the pop star Rihanna sings, “Please don’t stop the music”. Music artist from Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Run DMC, and Beyoncé have had an influence on culture as a whole. People of all ages and different nationalities are influenced by the music they listen to; therefore music sets the norms in most societies. Hip-Hop is the influential trend in American society today, impacting such things as fashion fads, our economy, and how we view women in a misogynistic perspective.
Regardless of the criticism she soon became a trend setter. She was a model for women in both dress and action, again just like Barbie. Some people disputed that "Gibson Girl" as a national standard for feminine beauty. They felt she would disturb social order but in fact most women welcomed the change (Gibson Girl, 2010). The caricature image became very popular representing American girls.
This mainly consists of wealth, power and beautiful women which are the goals of most youth in today’s contemporary society – in other words: The American dream. There are several codes and conventions that make up this genre of music video and my main example of this is ‘In Da Club’ by 50 Cent. [Image 2] In 50 Cent’s music video he directly addresses the audience with his lyrics. In hip hop music videos there is a frequent use of low angled/close up shots. The sole purpose of this is to demonstrate the power
Previous to the development of the record company, there was no specific Gothic genre. Often, classical pieces would have Gothic elements, but never a period of Gothic classical music. As rock developed, Gothic rock formed from influences present in the English punk and post-punk scenes. Such music would be defined by its atmospheric elements—very similar, in concept, to the use of scenery and atmosphere in Gothic literature—and often dark, introspective lyrical content. As the importance of image increased due to the ever growing influence of MTV many bands would adopt black clothing that often drew on influences from the Victorian period.

Sue Monk Kidd has made many impacts on literature. She has been awarded for her great impact by having books on the bestseller list and winning the Quill Award.
The majority of her songs have a catchy beat and story. In fact, I could listen to Ke$ha’s songs all day long and not get tired of them. Ke$ha may apply auto-tune to her voice, but she does this intentionally to give it a robotic, techno effect. Like I mentioned earlier, I have heard her live twice, and she sounds phenomenal without auto-tune as well. My favorite part about Ke$ha happens to be her fashion style.
All of the Western culture experienced the changes in the cultural phenomenon. The music in the United Kingdom was leaving its own impact on British youth, with a similar popular explosion of immediate fans. The most popular British band to emerge was the Beetles.13 This band came on the scene in early 1960s and quickly developed a female fan base. Their music appeared to be a sexual-outlet for these obsessed female fans, more than their young male counterparts. Beetle-mania developed an almost cult-like following, and the band, consisting of four all-male members reached world-shattering popularity.
