Why I am Attending College I decided to go back to college to get further education. I wanted to set a good example for my kids and show them that their education is very important. My life has been an up and down hill battle until I went back to school. I have been out of school for eleven years now, so just imagine how I feel sitting back in a classroom. When I told my mom that I had decided to go back to school she was very proud of me and told me that I can do it as long as I tried hard enough.
However, fear was seeping through me as the hours of walking to the building came nearer. Questions like “ What if they don't remember me?” , “ What if I don't fit in?” was hovering my brain as I was waking up to get ready for the first day. Everything had to be perfect, I mean its the big step to the rest of my life. Although, I wish I was prepared to what came ahead. Academically, my first year of high school was on a ball.
Continuing Academic Success Academic success is something that every student should strive for, regardless of what type of student they are. Whether they are a first year freshman fresh out of high school or a single mother wishing to continue her education, every student should strive to get good grades in all their courses and take full advantage of all the resources that are available to them through their university. “Unfortunately, there is no magical remedy for motivating students. Humans are complex individuals, and when educators began identifying ways to motivate individuals they are treading on thin ice.” (Petty, 2014). Setting Goals By really thinking of what you want to get out of your time at school, you can narrow down what you need to work on and set some goals for yourself.
Returning to School Sylvia Todd English 121 Stephanie Derisi November 18, 2012 To accomplish great things , we must dream as well as act. –Anatole France Here I am 7 years later and I am writing a paper for one of my college classes. Little did I know it would take me so long to finish what I started back then. I am going to share with you why returning to school is important to me, the benefits of getting a college degree and what motivates me to make this choice and continue to stick with it. Like everyone who decides to return to school I would like a better job, better pay and of course a college degree.
Why I Think I Should Be in the 2011 NJHS I believe I should be considered for Lake Pleasant’s National Junior Honors Society because I am a determined student, who loves to do her absolute best. In my essay I have provided several reasons why I think I should be in NJHS. My first reason for being accepted into the national juniors honor society is that I love to exceed in my schoolwork and I am ambitious. For example I have made Honor roll almost every quarter this year. This upcoming school year I plan to receive honor roll for all quarters and earn A’s in all of my classes.
Editorial Speech In the world these days, many schools and other places are having an issue about gunfire with mental kids. Due to this, many people have died and got injured, causing fear and tragedy for many families. Some people even move to other countries to avoid living under fear constantly just because of gun shootings. I personally think what Kent state university did to William Koberna, banning him from the school because of a tweet he uploaded about shooting the campus was a wrong thing to do. First of all, this was a stupid behaviour because all William Koberna did was upload a tweet.
I knew before returning to school that it would be hard to accomplish everything but somehow I will find the time to be a great mother as well as a good student. I live paycheck to paycheck to paycheck and I want more for my children and myself. By returning to school, I am able to show my children that it is never too late to go after your dreams. The only thing stopping you is yourself. I want to be an example for my children, so they will see how important a college education is.
I will be able to have an occupation that I thoroughly enjoy and at the same time will be able to afford a decent living for my children and myself. For me to complete my degree at this point in my life is very important. I feel that getting the opportunity to go back to school at my age is actually giving me a second chance to make something of myself. I think my children will see how hard I am working to achieve this certification and it will give them the desire to get a degree as well. I do not want them to struggle as I have these past
It has helped me with the debt that I had prior to returning to school. This started off being the main reason why I decided to return to school but I saw the bigger picture and that was me getting a college degree and making a better life my children. So for me, it is all worth it in the end. While trying to pursue my degree, I know there will be many obstacles in the way such as unsupportive peers and being able to maintain good grades. Some of the strategies are to make sure I study all material as much as I can and turn all assignments in a timely manner.
I want to have a great personal life rather than a great professional life with no personal life. I will get my professional life on track by going to school every day that I have class. I feel that by attending class will only help me to succeed more. I will also graduate and receive my Bachelor’s degree and then maybe move onto my Master’s if my job entails it. Once I have graduated, I hope to find a job that will fit my qualities and responsibilities.
