Psychological disorders are commonly known as mental disorders. Psychological disorders appear in behavioral patterns that impact an individual’s life in several areas. Psychological disorders causes strain and distress to the individual who is experiencing their symptoms. (Cherry, 2012) Recognizing the symptoms is beneficial to seeking help. Antisocial Personality Disorder is a disorder that is best understood with the category of personality disorders. (Diagnosis Dictionary, 2012). Personality disorder is an enduring pattern of personal experience and behavior that deviates noticeably from the expectations of the individual's culture, is pervasive and inflexible, has an onset in adolescence or early adulthood, is stable over time, and leads to personal distress or impairment. (Diagnosis Dictionary, 2012). Individuals with an Antisocial Personality Disorder have no regard for rules of society, patterns of violent tendencies and possess the inability to feel affection of others. Individuals with this illness may portray themselves to be amiable; however, they are more likely to irritable and aggressive. Antisocial Personality Disorder individuals have manipulative tendencies and therefore it is difficult to interpret what they are saying to be true (Diagnosis Dictionary, 2012). Antisocial Personality Disorder is not diagnosis to individuals under the age of 18. When a person is diagnosis with Antisocial Personality Disorder it is based on historical displays of lying, truancy, delinquency, substance abuse, running away, and difficulty with the law. In adulthood the same individuals have problems sustaining employment, and failing in responsibilities financially, paternally, and martially.
