Due to individual beliefs, there are three different approaches and treatments that Jake’s psychologist could recommend. If the psychologist uses a humanistic approach, which focuses on self-actualization and free will, he or she might suggest that Jake is freaking himself out. He might say that Jake has low self-confidence and is not studying enough. As treatment, Jake should study more and take practice tests after studying to boast his self-esteem and realize that he can understand and repeat the information he has learned. On the other hand, if a psychologist would take a behavioral approach, which focuses on behavioral responses, followed by enjoyable consequences being enforced or strengthened.
From completing the Career Interests Profiler and the Career Plan Building Activity: Competencies I was able to learn the strengths and weaknesses of my competencies but did not expect the results I received from the career interest profiler. Now that I know where my strengths and weaknesses in competencies are and I also know which areas I need to work on to improve. My results show that I am fairly level loaded with my strengths being delivering results, organizing, following instructions, goal focus, and coping with pressure however they are not as strong as I would like them to be. All of these competencies are needed to pursue my career goal of becoming the Operations and Supply Chain Manager within my company. Researching was rated a little lower than the others so now I know that I need to focus on making improvements in this area.

Carl Rogers, The author of the essay “Communication: Its Blocking and its Facilitation”, presents the idea that communication between people today is struggling. Rogers states that the “major factors in blocking or impending communication” is due to “our very natural tendency to judge” other people’s thoughts, ideas, and opinions without ever being in their shoes (419). Rogers goes in depth on the overlaying problems of communication these days but also gives us various ways to help us communicate on a new level of understanding. When communicating with individuals, we must listen and not immediately judge the person. Rogers puts blame on this as one of the biggest reasons for communication breakdown.
Both also buy into the idea that autonomy is what drives them. Like Drucker, Hammer (2004) stresses the importance of defining the task of the knowledge worker. Defining the task of the knowledge worker is important because it is necessary for expectations to be established (Drucker, 1999). And because the knowledge worker is not programmed by the defined task, the task can change. While Drucker (1999) attempts to establish a way to measure productivity, Hammer (2004) suggests that the productivity of the knowledge worker should not be measured, but rather measure the productivity of the organization.

It will get better as life goes on because you will have it figured out. In the third paragraph I’m going to talk about the third stage of the learning cycle, which is finding a solution. Whenever I do this I have to figure out what the problem is and then sit down and start finding the solution.
