This suggests that many more are able to drive and use private transport, a supposed to public transports such as buses. Further, this increase has led for the proportion of households without access to a car to fall from 38% in 1985/6 to 33% in 2010. There have been more households with two or more cars than households with no car. Trips by car (as a driver or passenger) accounted for 64% of all trips made and 78% of distance travelled.
