Research on birds in Britain Introduction: on this page I will be researching various birds that we can find in our back yards. So I can produce my bird house based on their needs. My product will be sold in Britain and will be mass produced. It should also be suitable for a variety of birds and not just one kind. 1) Robins- Robins are a part of the thrush family. They are mainly found in woodland areas. They are also found in gardens and parks. Feeding: Insects, fruit, seeds and worms Eggs: 3 - 6 white eggs speckled with brown laid March to June, incubation 14 days They need small holes . bigger birds may find it harder to enter. 2) Sparrow hawk – they are fast flying hunting birds. (Accipiter nicus) Size: | 14 inches (35 cm) | Habitat: | Woodland and farmland. | Feeding: | Small birds such as finches and sparrows. Sometimes small animals. | Eggs: | 4 - 6 white/blue with red/brown blotches eggs laid in May, incubation 11 - 12 daysTheir holes will need to be very big making it hard for smaller birds to adapt to. | | | 3) Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) Size: | 6 inches (15 cm) | Habitat: | Woodland, hedgerows, fields, parks and gardens | Feeding: | Seeds, grain and insects | Eggs: | 4 - 5 off white eggs with red/brown blotches laid from April to early June, incubation 12 - 14 daysThey will need slightly large holes which will almost be the same as the robin’s size | 4) Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) Size: | 4 inches (10 cm) | Habitat: | Anywhere with dense vegetation. | Feeding: | Small insects, spiders and seeds. | Eggs: | White eggs with red/brown spots laid from late April, incubation 14 days.Since they are small this size will go well with the robin and the chaffinch. | 5) blue tit (Parus caeruleus) Size: | 4.5 inches (11 cm) | Habitat: | Deciduous woodland, hedgerows, parks and
