The Social Network
In Sociology this year we have covered many topics such as statuses, research methods, culture, innovation, inventions, and discoveries. These topics portray multiple times in the movie The Social Network. Throughout the course of the film innovations, inventions, and discoveries are seen most often in the film and really display what sociology’s all about.
Innovation most nearly means the introduction of something new. In the movie there’s this guy named Mark Zuckerberg who’s very intelligent and one day after being dumped he decided to create a website called Facesmash which allows users to rate females on there looks. This website crashed Harvard’s network. Then, two guys named the Winklevoss twins introduced a subject called Harvard Connection. The Harvard Connection was a little web page strictly designed for students in Harvard to talk to each other and look at pictures. They invite Mark to a little party to go over ideas about a website. Mark introduces the new idea, The Facebook which is an online social networking system where kids can blog, look at pictures, chat, etc.
There’s a new invention every twelve minutes in the United States. An invention is something that someone creation especially a process or device .In The Social Network Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin invent a website called Facebook. Facebook is now a multibillion dollar company and is now known as one of the best inventions of all time. It all started with a little idea such as designing a webpage where students of Harvard college can communicate with each other though an online database. Later on Mark Zuckerberg expanded his idea and developed Facebook.
