"Would you like it made with flour or ....aregeno?" asks the Mexican man as he pulls out two gigantic canisters labeled "weed" and "crack". He takes a big scoop of each and holds them over the flour tortillas that are laying on the table before him. "I'll have one of each" says the stranger who's face is hidden by his
Steven was the first he met up with, and he was just bickering with Paulette from across the riot. Nate ran into Herr Schulteis next, and he had just spilled ketchup on his brand new stripped shirt, and was licking it off. Then, right before Nate made it to the middle; Candy’s daddy came up behind him and gave a big slap on the rear. What for, the world may never know. Nate decided since he did not see Candy he would just continue on with this traitorous journey through the riot.
In Homers Odyssey the sirens are described as luring, tempting, beautiful creatures that show no fear. Odysseus explains all the hardships and troubles him and his ship crew go through to avoid getting lured into the sirens with vivid imagery. “Now with a sharp sword I sliced an ample wheel of beeswax down into pieces, I kneaded them in my two strong hands” tells u that Odysseus isn’t going to take any chances and fight the irresistible song. Odysseus and his crew seem almost helpless when it comes to avoiding the sirens. Odysseus’s desire to listen to their deadly song is portrayed when his heart “throbbing to listen longer.” This helpless sense seems to be present throughout the entire passage.
Many will wince and wrinkle their noses at this film's sheer, uncompromising immaturity. Perhaps they prefer their satire more middlebrow, more responsible, like that Manchurian Candidate remake. But Team America: World Police is criminally, deplorably funny. The giggling starts at the spectacular opening scene when TAWP take down a bevy of terrorists in Paris - though at the unfortunate expense of destroying the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre - and things more or less continue from there. The explicit puppet sex scene between Gary and Lady Penelope-lookalike Lisa is incredible, in every sense.
They do hear plenty of rumours though from characters in the novel, building an aura of mystery and fear around Boo. The themes that Arthur Radley brings out include fear, compassion & forgiveness and youth. It brings out the theme of fear because the citizens of Maycomb are all scared of Boo and gossip and tell rumors about him like “Radley pecans would kill you” (Lee 11), “A baseball hit into the Radley yard was a lost ball and no questions asked” (Lee 11), “People said he went out at night when the moon was down, and peeped into windows” (Lee 10), “When people’s azalea’s froze in a cold snap, it was because he had breathed on them” (Lee 10) and “Any stealthy small crimes in Maycomb were his work” (Lee 10). The portrayal of Arthur Radley reveals the theme of compassion & forgiveness because at the beginning Scout and Jem think Boo is a “malevolent phantom” (Lee 10) and later in the novel they begin to realize that Arthur is a really good person and he just wants to help out. Jem realizes this when he says, “…he ain’t ever harmed us, he ain’t ever hurt us, he coulda cut my throat from ear to ear that night but he tried to mend my pants instead” (Lee 96).

When the fight in between Beowulf and Grendel begin, Grendel is immediately overtaken by Beowulf’s incredible strength. Grendel views Beowulf as a demon or archangel. Odysseus is advised by his men to quickly steal some of the food and then leave, however he lingers (not his brightest moment). They then are found by the Cyclopes. Polyphemus, the Cyclopes, is at first very hospitable but then he unexpectedly eats two of Odysseus’s men. He locks up the rest of them to save for later meals. Odysseus immediately thinks of a genius plan.
The opening scene takes place at the dead of night, establishing a dark, ominous tone. A gaggle of young girls sneak out from their homes and dance wildly around a boiling pot of stew, calling out the names of their beloved. Emotions are running high and things quickly escalate as one of the girls, Abigail, breaks the neck of a chicken and smears its blood on her face, while another girl strips naked. This is a cathartic experience whereby they release pent up sexual frustration; one may assume this is an unpleasant side effect of a society that places far too much emphasis on suppressing all natural human desire. They are caught by Reverend Parris, a minister, and quickly scramble off.
