Both offer benefit to children but equally can expose them to threats to their safety and well-being. Children and young people are open to many risks while being online or using their mobile phones, the possible risks and consequences are: • They may be lured into giving personal information; name, age, address and telephone numbers which could be used for identity theft or fraud. • Cyber bullying; this may include sending unpleasant texts, emails or instant messaging. A child or young person may find cruel messages or pictures about themselves and having their username stolen to spread lies or rumours about someone else.
One such mechanism results in distrust of others. Continuous cyber bullying fosters changes in young adults’ such as displaying antisocial behaviors, increase in social isolation resulting in withdrawal from friends and family members and them becoming insecure. Victims of cyber bullying are more likely to be distrustful of others since attackers remain anonymous, hence fostering feelings of inadequacies and anxiety that tends to remain. The paranoia that develops isolates them further. Kowalski, Limber & Agatson (2012) research suggest that the perpetrators of cyber bullying shared feelings of gratification and or revenge as motivations for their actions.
There are many different ways people bullying a victim, name calling, teasing, using network to put negative things about them on sites like Face book, MySpace, that is not true. Getting the victim to do things they do not want to do and in some cases threaten them that they will hurt them or one of their family members. Physical bullying, that include physical contact. There is also verbal bullying; which include name calling, indirect bully in which they spread rumors about their victim. There is also cyberbulling in which is done by sending messages, pictures, or information using electronic media, computers (email & instant messages), or cell phones (text messaging & voicemail).
There are warning signs of a victim of cyberbullying and a cyberbully. It is important to understand the warning signs in order to be able to help a child in this situation. Cyberbullying is a very dangerous behavior. It can cause many negative outcomes with the victim, including suicide. Parents, schools, children, and our government can work together to take preventive measures against cyberbullying.

In essence, Cyberbullying is the inappropriate use of a technological device to harass, degrade or defame another. Students and adults today, feel pressure from their peers to resolve issues without direct contact with their nemesis.
