Rights Every service user has rights and these must be respected. However, it need to be understood that rights and responsibilities have to be balanced. Some tensions between what the service user perceives as their right and what we can offer as a part of the service might be encountered. Examples of rights: dignity,privacy, choice of diet, choice of dress, the chance to say own opinion, etc.
You will be accountable and responsible for any mistakes or errors. You do not have to like the people you work with and you will need to keep personal opinions and feelings to yourself. Mutual respect and understanding needs to be established and is a key factor in developing a good working relationship. Working in the Health sector, you are most likely to come accross people with views you dont agree with and some people wont understand your point of view. Despite this, all people i work with or come into contact with should be treated equally and i should respect other peoples beliefs and act posotively around them. If i were to allow my own prefences to dominate my work with people, i would fail to perform within the standards set by UK regulating bodies, they require workers to promote and respect peoples individuals views and
I have to act in the person’s best interest but instead of encouraging them to avoid risks I have to support them and enable them to taking part in activities. I have to act in the individuals best interest, keep them safe, carry out risk assessments, promote informed choices but also respect their decision and right to live their life as they choose. If the risk seems great to me I would document it and discuss the matter with my manager. Another area where duty of care dilemmas may arise are confidentiality issues. When a confidential information is shared with me and it concerns safeguarding and there is a possibility of harm or someone’s wellbeing is threathened I might have to make a decision and disclose this information.

This is very difficult because in order for the team to feel as equally passionate about the common goal, the manager must communicate the goal in a way that makes each employee feel they are doing their part individually to achieve the common goal. The same goal cannot be communicated to the IT staff in the same way that it is communicated to the operations staff. Each subset of teams has a separate objective all leading to a common goal. Knowing when and how to deal with employees who are performing low is also pertinent as a general manager. Ultimately the general manager wants to have a great team.
