Garret Hamilton #11 August 22, 2012 5th Period Paper Towels! 1.) Problem- Billy spilt a glass of water on the lab table. He was going to clean up the mess he made like you are always supposed to and wanted to see what brand of paper towels would soak up the most water. He had school paper towels and two different types of bounty brand paper towels, style #1 and style #2. Which paper towel will soak up the most water? 2.) Hypothesis- If Billy uses bounty style #1 paper towels, then they will soak up more of the water mess than the competing two brands/styles. 3.) Material List- * Water * Graduated cylinder * School paper towels * Bounty paper towels style #1 * Bounty paper towels style #2 4.) Directions- 1. Gather all of the above listed materials you will need for your experiment. 2. Measure out three equal amounts of water and pour them out on your lab table all far away from each other so they do not run together. 3. Make sure all the paper towels are equal in size before starting your experiment. If they are not, cut them down so they are equal. 4. Attempt to wipe up each mess with a different style of paper towel. Make sure you do so in the same way with each paper towel. 5. Record your data in a graph or table. 6. Analyze your results and writs a conclusion stating which brand or style of paper towels do the best job at cleaning up the mess. 5.)
