What was the outcome of the case? The voluntary termination of one’s own life by administration of a lethal substance with the direct or indirect assistance of a physician assisted suicide is the practice of providing a competent patient with a prescription for medication for the patient to use with primary intention of ending his or her own life. I believe there are many things to consider about physician assisted suicide. “The history of law’s treatment of assisted suicide in this country has been and continues to be one of the rejections of nearly all efforts to permit

Washington v. Glucksberg, 521 U.S. 702 (1997) Petitioners: State of Washington and the State Attorney General Respondent: Harold Glucksberg, MD et al who practices medicine in the state of Washington and treats terminally ill patients Facts: The state of Washington passed a law that made it a crime to assist in a suicide that takes place within the state. The crime is listed as “promoting a suicide attempt” and is classified as a felony offense. In order for a person to be convicted of this crime it has to be proven that the defendant knowingly caused or aided another person in an attempt to commit suicide. In January 1994 Dr. Glucksberg along with four other doctors, three terminally ill patients who died before the case reached the Supreme Court and Compassion in Dying, a nonprofit group that aids terminally patients who wish to commit suicide filed a suit in the US District Court against the state of Washington and the State Attorney General on the grounds that the law is unconstitutional. The Respondents argument was that people have a liberty interest which is protected by the 14th Amendment’s Due Process Clause and it should extend to terminally ill patients who are mentally competent and wish to take part in doctor assisted suicide.
Another advantage of qualitative research is that it gives more thorough data in the shape of complete descriptions in written form or visual evidence, such as photographs. This type of research looks at context and social meaning and how it affects individuals, which is beneficial mostly in the social sciences. The disadvantage of qualitative research is the interpretation of researcher s’ own biased view, which can misinterpret the facts. Another disadvantage is that this research method is very time consuming. Quantitative research allows assessing and analyzing data.
The episode “A Study in Pink”, based off the novel A Study in Scarlet, exhibited numerous similarities to the novel in both the events of the crime and the characteristics of the criminal. The crime that occurred in the television episode was a string of mysterious suicides, all induced by the same poison, but of which the victims had no relation to one another. The situation is thought to be serial suicide by Detective-Inspector Lestrade, however when the suicide of one woman dressed in pink occurs, the notion arose that a murderer is involved in some way. They believe this to be different because the woman in pink has carved the word “Rache” into the floor. This is one similarity to the crime in A Study in Scarlet, however a major difference
It is very difficult to avoid scepticism when a conspiracy theory is involved. In saying that, there is a reason why Cobain’s suicide has raised so many questions and speculations. Various evidential facts and discoveries could very well confirm that Cobain’s “suicide” was in fact a deviously planned homicide. The most substantial proof that debunks the allegation that Kurt Cobain took his own life, is the amount of heroin that was found in Cobain’s bloodstream after his death. Three times the lethal dose, in fact.
Even in Britain where euthanasia or PAS is illegal, people and mostly physicians practice it. In May 1999, a British general practitioner Dr. David Moor was prosecuted of murdering a patient. He was accused of murdering 85-year-old terminally ill cancer patient George Liddell by administering a fatal dose of the painkiller, Diamorphine. Although he was not found guilty in murder but he had given drugs to that patient. Also he admitted in a press interview to having helped up to 300 people to die ("BBC News”).
