This painting has symbolic meaning as it tries to communicate the story of Aphrodite. There was a new found interest in ancient Greece, during the time it was painted, and so, it illustrates the Greek myth. The Birth of Venus illustrates the fact that this culture glorifies and defines beauty through the usage of the female form. The bodies are painted in a way that honors the human body in a way that is not shameful. I love the painting, The Birth of Venus, by Sandro Botticelli.
Pocahontas and John Smith were young adults who fell in love sort of like Romeo and Juliet because their love seems impossible. The movie spices up when John Smith and Pocahontas are caught together. She was engaged to a Native American called Kocoum therefore it was tragic to find her with John Smith; the Native Americans try to kill John Smith but Pocahontas saves his life. The Disney movie basically portrays them as falling in love and at the end; John Smith is shot and leaves Virginia while Pocahontas stays. The real story did not happen that way.
As one of the few gods to be married of the Greek Pantheon she is frequently unfaithful to her husband. Hephaestus is one of the most even-tempered and humorless of the Hellenic Deities. Of her many lovers Aphrodite preferred Ares, the volatile god of war as she was attracted to his violent nature according to the narrative embedded in the Odyssey. She is one of a few characters who played a major part in the original cause of the Trojan War itself: not only did she offer Helen of Troy to Paris, but the abduction was accomplished when Paris, seeing Helen for the first time, was inflamed with desire to have her—which is Aphrodite's realm. In the novel The Golden Ass, Lucius Apuleius written in the second century A.D , Aphrodite poses as a secondary character in the Tale of Eros and Psyche.
CHACTER ESSAY I almost every book there is a hero and only one actually stood out to me in the story of the Iliad and the odyssey, Odysseus really stood out to me because he went to troy to fight the Trojans and when he was headed home he didn’t want to make a sacrifice to the god Poseidon, this angered Poseidon and he blew Odysseus’s crew to many mysterious islands and lands. The first island he landed on was the island of the lotus eaters, mesmerized by the plant some of his crew did not return because they had fallen for the flower. The second island was the land of the giants, where Odysseus ran into the son of Poseidon. Odysseus entered cave and fed on the giant’s food and when he returned the giant ate a few of his men. After he escaped
One main similarity between the movie and the story (and probably the most important) is the element of an epic hero whom dies after saving his people. In the movie, Bulvine is cut with a poisonous claw by Grendel’s mom, shortly before decapitating her. He is able to fight one more battle against Grendel’s tribe, and then dies after winning the combat from the venom. In the poem, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf dies after slaying a dragon from a lethal, dragon-bite to the neck. Even though the movie is based on the story of Beowulf, The Thirteenth Warrior still leaves a few events out and adds some occurrences.
Trojan War 15.1.13 The Trojan War all started by when Peleus and Thetis had not invited Eris, the goddess of discord, to their marriage. This made Eris really angry and so she stormed into the wedding banquet and threw a golden apple onto the table. Eris said that whoever was the fairest would get this wonderful golden apple. Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all reached for the apple, and couldn’t decide t who should have it so Zeus said that Paris, prince of Troy and apparently most handsome man alive, would act as the judge. Hera promised Paris power, Athena promised him wealth, and Aphrodite promised the most beautiful woman in the world.
“He drew to his fist the cruel head of an arrow for Antinous- Odysseus’s arrow hit him under the chin and punched up to the feathers through his throat.” (Homer, 22. 234-247). Odysseus endured all of this with the hope that someday he would again be with his family. Being only human, Odysseus' bravery was tested to the

Quattrocento also known as the Italian Renaissance was a pivotal time for individuals in the art world. Many artist were discovered and are still considered famous today. These pioneer artist displayed a presence of scientific, cultural and economics through christianity putting forth techniques and ideas that are still used currently. The most renowned 15th century frescoes would be The Sistine Chapel. It is a perfect example of linear perspective in Perugino's Christ Delivering the Keys of the Kingdom to Peter. Some of the most important collection of Renaissance painting would be that of Federico da Montefeltro who helped Urbino flourish in art and culture and commissioned perhaps the largest library in Italy with the paintings in Monefelto's court displaying the first theoretical treatise on perspective.
With his command of large-scale musical form, as well as his attention to secular text-setting, Du Fay set the stage for the next generations of Renaissance composers. By about 1500, European art music was dominated by Franco-Flemish composers, the most prominent of whom was Josquin des Prez (ca. 1450–1521). Like many leading composers of his era, Josquin traveled widely throughout Europe, working for patrons in Aix-en-Provence, Paris, Milan, Rome, Ferrara, and Condé-sur-L'Escaut. The exchange of musical ideas among the Low Countries, France, and Italy led to what could be
