Definition Essay Christian, a person who has a professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus, according to the dictionary. However, that word has become distorted throughout the years. I want to make known the real definition of a Christian and get rid of these false, contorted perceptions that the word has of Christians. Now and days, people relate Christians with the words pompous or hypocritical. A prime example of this is “Christians, they love to talk about how loving, dutiful and compassionate they are, yet I have yet to meet ONE who does not practice hypocrisy to the highest degree.” Now I won’t go into disputing this statement just yet, I want to get out the worlds view of Christians. From my experience in school students and teachers alike think that we are naive to the ways of the modern world. Repeatedly saying we are sheltered and that we have a child like perspective of the world. Trust me it’s not fun getting called a Christian b…. almost every day throughout middle school, but at least they know I’m different. Now for my favorite part, the definition of a Christian from the bible’s point of view. The Bible definition of a Christian is the fact that all human beings have been and are sinners, including ourselves (Rom. 3:23). A Christian is one who has come to realize that he or she had been under that death penalty and in need of a Savior. The main point that people criticize us on is hypocrisy, but as was said before we all have and ARE sinners. Yes, that means that we do mess up however that doesn’t mean we don’t try and live by the principles we preach. It’s funny because even to some professing believers the word Christian has lost its meaning to them. To most “believers”, being Christian is just a social status. This social status entails the person to attend church, however not
